SETI upload problem

My Be connection has been a bit erratic, slow page loading: maybe packet loss or dropouts?
Anyway since yesterday afternoon have been unable to upload WU's but status page say OK:confused: Any one else having problems?

I can't upload any results either at the minute - currently have 95 waiting. Not only that, but some of the results I returned recently have been marked as invalid, which a) has never happened before and b) has happened to a lot of other users. Something's definitely broken at b0rkeley.

Also getting no new work, but seeing as I have another 478 WUs to get through I think I might just about be ok :p

Thanks for the quick reply & info TT.
Climate Prediction have been having major probs with their severs as well:(
No new work either for me.
Might just get Rosetta going again for a few days rather than let the queue of uploads get too big.

Thanks for that. Often in mr panic/frustration/confusion/annoyance [delete as appropriate] I forget to look or can't remember where to look for this news.

yeah, seems to have been a problem for me awhile (I don't keep checking my main machines BOINC progress, but its chock full of Milkyway and einstein work units, not a seti WU in sight.....

Went down late Tuesday/early Wednesday. It's had fits of attempted recovery since then but they're working on the edge of what is sustainable so any outage causes rough water for quite some time afterwards. Stick with it and they'll get through eventually.

At least their outage wasn't as bad as CPDN's. All three of their upload servers failed - one permanently. Some will have lost work and with a typical 7-14 day run time on those workunits I expect some won't find that funny at all.

My WUs that were marked as being invalid have now been validated successfully, so seems like things are moving in the right direction again. Still can't upload any results though, or indeed download any new work.

Edit: Just enabled network activity again and results are getting uploaded, albeit slowly and intermittently.

Borkeley have been having a bad run this year. Someone suggested that it is in part due to people have a too large cache of WU's + the splitters having too frequent queries of the data base.
CPDN has been a nightmare - no redundency & limited capacity. The later should be helped by a new 20TB:eek: server due next week;)
I've always found the backup process too much hassle & might have lost a unit.

TT I had about 6 WU that require [? forgotten confirmation] & so it has been sent out to a third cruncher to validate result.

Grimgoth - what's happen to yr SETI output? Lack of WU's = crunching other projects?

I'm not helping then, as before these current problems surfaced I'd managed to accumulate ~570 Mainbeam WUs through a combination of a lack of AP work, setting too high a cache (currently have it set to seven days; may need to revise that!) and general poor housekeeping, as it were. I had hoped to only crunch AP WUs, but these don't seem to be being created/distributed at the moment so I get sent a lot of the standard units.

Things seem to be settling down now with my machine, most of the pending uploads are complete and I have finally got some more cuda units after a two day absence.

Back to crunching.

Cheers,, Simon.

PS. I think when the team stats update I made the top twenty as well :D

This started again last night. Although sever staus says all ok I have about 20 wu waiting to upload for over 8 hrs.

Had approx 300 wu in a similar state this morning, i'll check again at lunchtime to see how they are progressing.

Cheers, Simon.

You did, and stomped me in the process :D Not that it matters as I made the top 20 for the first time as well..

Same here, and I only got 3500 credits for yesterday as they were having problems then as well. Im now out of CUDA units, but things usually get sorted out and it all evens out in the end

Cant upload results again and looking on Seti forums I am far from alone.

Now got about 100 results stuck

Seriously thinking of ditching Seti Boinc until they get these problems sorted out - any other Boinc project that makes use of Cuda enabled graphics card?

I know Einstein uses CUDA, and I last time I looked, Milkyway@home had a beta version available for crunching, though I have no idea how good it is...

Sorry ;)

Uploads seem to be getting better, from 12.30 I have had an uninterupted connection getting some of the backlog cleared.

Cheers, Simon.

They still seem to have major issues. I've not been able to get anything up or down for about three days. The main issue for me is machine #3: the units on that machine are all complete but can't be returned. They are stored on a RAID 0 array which I'm breaking today. I'm assuming that I can simply copy the units to the stash on another machine and wait for everything to return to normal?

Edit: doesn't matter, units have now gone up.

Now to build the second i920 rig...

Yes working now - just managed to clear my backlog ;)

I've been offerred a good price on nVidia Tesla C1060 - dont know how good that would be re. Seti CUDA ?
