I can't say I would agree with you or certainly from my own testing anyway. I'm currently using a quad core based machine and the difference is honestly quite small, certainly nothing substantial.

I agree with Fire - Vista is fine on a quick machine. Ran like a dog on my old Opteron 146 (2.8GHz), but on this stock E8600 it flies

I'll be upgrading to 7 anyway as my mate (who works for MS) always gets me a free copy

Can't upgrade from 7227 to 7260.0.x86fre.win7_rtm.090612-2110.client_en-us.ultimate

Microsoft.Windows.7.7260.RTM.BRANCH.32BIT-BBYERSR gives me an error nearly at the end of the install, tried this upgrading from 7100 and a fresh install.

Has anyone had any problems using Remote Desktop Connection on Windows 7 while controlling a Vista pc?

Just want to make sure before moving my main Pc over to Windows 7, would be a PITA if it didn't work properly.

Is it possible to install Windows 7 on a 1.2GHz Celery, Intel 810i mobo, 384mb ram? integrated Intel rubbish GPU.

General question without reading the whole thread.......

Are you guys installing this on test machines or just your main home PC? I'm pretty sick of Vista and thinking of trying to Windows 7 beta. Any news on how things like games run?

I am running Win 7 x64 as my main machine. My games play great (GTX295 helps

) Currently I have the following games installed:

Crysis, Crysis Warhead, GRAW2, Fear 2, Farcry 2, Mirror's Edge, COD5 & Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

Anyone had any issues with bittorrent? I installed windows 7 last night and I've had problems with Vuze and utorrent

No problem with uTorrent and Win 7 here (any of the builds). Have you set it up correctly?

Running on my main machine.

Was having regular BSODs at the start before realising I had the cpu overclocked. All stable now.

I don't think I've set it up incorrectly, I've been using it for probably 3 years without any problems. What settings could effect it specifically?

Running without issue as my main home PC. only thing that pees me off comng from XP32 is the UAC - is it unsafe to disable this?

ALso for anyone looking to run a program at startup without the UAC cutting in see this link - http://www.alcpu.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=503&sid=38470b25f6c8e96096221665a4a87831 Worked for me for CoreTemp but i guess should work for other exes too?!

If it isn't under disk clean up,files to delete, "files discarded by windows upgrade" then just delete the windows.old folder.
