Back up your steam games, upgrade to 50mb for not much more than 20mb. 50mb so far doesnt have throttling, and probably wont do until 200mb rolls out. (especially if you go through to the cancellations dept first ;))

You dont know what you've got until it's gone.

I left virgin and my old 20mb connection when i moved house last summer into a non cable area, my BT line only does 6mb and it's pathetic.

I'd take 20mb and a throttle to 5mb between 5-9 anyday as for gaming it was immense! :D

Moved down from Liverpool to Somerset. Used to have Virgin 20Mbit, had had cable for years, but alas, not in the country you can't. Not even LLU'd at our little exchange, so we have BT Openworld, on a good day we get between 2-300Kbs download, usually much much worse.

Its already been stated that 50mb will have a STM when the roll out has finished, seeing as thats set to be finished end of the summer it will happen, and even if you go through retentions/cancellations they can't stop you getting throttled by stm in anyway.

Strange I thought Somerset was covered as Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol all are.

*It's cheaper if you go to cancellations. They will offer you a discount on the 50mb to keep you.

And i'm aware it will get STM... which is why i wrote that quite clearly in my post.

but the STM will be about 6 or 10 GB, i don't think many people will get to that limit in a evening..

seeing how i've only had the 50mbit for a week i'd be gutted if i only get another 3mths before STM starts but it wouldn't surprise me given their history of shafting us.

My 20mb has gone up to £37 pm for some reason, so I'm not best pleased. Will phone em tomorrow and get badgering.

same here. not happy. how long do you have to give as notice before leaving? we signed a 12 month contract in early July last year. Does the service continue automatically? or do you have to contact them close to the end of the 12 months and say a) we're leaving. or b) we want another 12 months please.

thankyou

If they have increased the price without informing you then you can cancel anytime as they are in breach of contract. They have to inform you of any price changes. If they do you have a certain amount of time to cancel your contract if you aren't happy. If they don't then you can cancel when you want.

It just continues, but call them and you will get a reduction in your bills, or get a beter packager,f or no extra dosh.

When I rang to cancel the other week, they said they needed 30 days notice, so my Virgin line/broadband won't be cut until the 18th of next month.

:( I really want 50MB it seems like a pretty good package. However they don't cable my house everyone in my neighbourhood has it though.. how freaky?

Is there any circumstance they will wire the house?
