**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Hard to say tbh. They don't play enough.

You can't deny that when they are both on top of their game they are incredible players (coming from a chelsea fan)

Unfortunately it isn't based when they are on top of their game, it's based on the whole package, injuries included.

Wasn't that obvious?

Arsenal in 20 mil+ transfer rumour , whats the world coming to?

I heard on the radio this morning that we were after Ribery too :D, as if.

Oh jesus did I just read that Eduardo is 'truly world class'? - ah well it's good to laugh this early in the day

I just looked quickly and he started at least 6 games in a row:

West Ham
Stoke
Fenerbache
Man Utd
Villa
Man City

And how many goals did he score in those 6 starts? Zero. IMO it's hardly surprising he wasn't starting every game following that return, I'm fairly sure he was playing as a striker in most of those games too.

In fact if you look at his record until May, the only current Premiership teams he scored against last season were Bolton and Hull.

Firstly I was talking about premiership, secondly, up till that point you're talking about him playing a game, playing well, out of position, then being dropped which means he was playing with no confidence. Thirdly, again, there was only 3-4 games the entire season he was played IN HIS POSITION, which is withdrawn striker, like against Sheffield when he ran the Arsenal offence and created or scored all 6 goals. He's not a lone striker, he can't play alongside Ade as, Ade is a useless twit.

As for them not starting, RVP started most games this year, was protected a little from overplaying in his first injury free season, Eduardo's not a constant sicknote, nor was it a niggling injury that his body caused, like a tear in a muscle because it was overused, his leg was broken by someone else.

Wenger was doing his usual "can't play anyone new for ages because I'm a moron" thing he does in Eddie's first season, and was too scared to play him since he returned from injury. He also for no godly reason starts Ade when he's the worst striker at the club.

Frankly Wenger has mismanaged the team for the past 4-5 years, starting players who don't deserve it, screwing squad members by never playing them, letting the wrong players leave for some ridiculous made up notion that winning the league is better if done with younger players. Theo, Hleb, Ade, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Djourou, none of them should start games at ARsenal.

Bendtner will either leave and people will see how good he is when given consistant starts in his position, as might some other arsenal players tbh.

6 games across different competitions with different formations during our early awful start to the season when the club was completely unsettled and losing loads of games when he played out of position in almost all of them with a massively underperforming team, means nothing.

Lampard played a bunch of internationals last year, got 1 assist because he was largely played as the withdrawn more defensive player a lot while he got 19 for Chelsea.

Bendtner at international was played in HIS position, and at international level got 9 assists, thats HUGE, when played in a similar role at Arsenal in but a handful of games, he scored and created lots of goals aswell.

According to source's in France, Benzema's people are talking to United's people today regarding the transfer - I can hope

He's only got 1 year left on his deal, hasn't he? If so then anything over £15m is a fair bit for him.

I doubt Man City's owners care too much right now. They'll still be in the honeymoon period where they'll be a bit lax with how much they spend and who they spend it on. They'll realise in time that its not a viable way to run a club.

Torres has recommended Villa, Mata and Silva to Benitez again? Seems to be doing that on a weekly basis which would be pointless if we are as skint as reports suggest. Don't know if he knows more about our transfer budget than people are letting on or if it's just wishful thinking.

I've absolutely no doubt we're in for at least one of them and the reason nothing has been done yet it due to the confederations cup. Third place play off is today and after that its finished for spain, so we may see movement next week, including arbeloa's move.

Villa will stay in Spain, he has no interest in leaving La Liga, he's said as much on numerous occasions.

The latter

Villa will not be coming to England and if Silva is up for grabs you can guarantee United who were after him last summer as well as Real will be after him and blow any bids Liverpool make out of the water

Dont know anything about Mata so cant comment

Villa's not going to happen but if we are to get somebody along the lines of Silva or Matta then that will be dependent on people leaving.

Rafa has said that we can sign 1 more player without having to sell however i suspect that isn't going to be another £15m+ player, probably more like a £2-3m player (probably a replacement for Hyypia or cover at fullback with Arby and Dossena likely to be leaving). Saying all that though, that then leaves us with all the money from the sales of Dossena, Arbeloa and other sales (players who don't need directly replacing; Babel for example) which would allow us to sign another £15-20m player.

In other words; 1 cheapish versatile defender and 1 top attacker with the money from Dossena, Arbeloa and Babel (+ whatever we have left over) is very possible.
