Parking Ticket: Whats my play?

So I stop on some SINGLE yellows to pop into the shop, come back roughly 5 mins later and I see the traffic warden issueing the ticket.

I said to him how I thought you could stay for 5 minutes, to which he replies "Yes you can, but ive been here for 6 minutes now". I was perfectly amiable with him, and he explained how I can go about challenging it.

Now, the ticket says time observed from 12:38 to 12:34, which clearly is based only on minutes and not seconds so I could have potentially have been there for 5 minutes and 2 seconds.

What should I say in my appeal email?

Its my first ticket, and I did mention that I had been in Boots so I could make up some good samaritan purchase, like prescription for ill family etc.

Also, I could possibly say that by my watch I was there for 5 minutes and if I hadnt stopped to talk to him I would have been on my way in sub 5 minutes (which isnt strictly true).

Anyone got any experience of getting off of these?

Why can't you just pay the fine? You parked somewhere you know you shouldn't have after all.

I'm not condoning the excessive charge, but if you know you shouldn't park there and do so any way then you really have no-one to blame but yourself do you?

I imagine he means 28.

As for getting off it, dont think you will do with it being a council issued ticket.

I presume it was actually 38-44, or 28 to 34, and I don't think trying to argue it was 5 mins and 2 seconds is going to do you any favours, as the 5 mins is a grace period for them waiting to see where you are.

For future reference, plastic bags over the number plates. He's not allowed to touch the bags to view your number plate so he can't give you a ticket ;)

However obscuring numberplates is a more serious offence which can net you 3-6 points on your license.
So really worth it?

He doesnt have a special watch that goes quicker than everyone elses.

Its what it says on his machine not anyone elses;)

lol i didnt quite mean that. I ment if his receipt was 12.33 surely he would have been back at his car before the traffic warden said he was there.

Negative on the hazards question.

The person that said just park somewhere you are allowed, you are allowed to go on the singles just not for quite that long :(

Im pretty sure I will have to just pay, but Im obviously going to try and argue it. Why throw money away?

And yes, I did mean 12 28 to 12 34. My mistake.
