Personally think its a reasonable deal, if two or three others join him.

Its not a like for like, as there isnt anyone like Ronny (in some ways, thank god) but I dont think Utd will miss the goals or the build up play as much as people are suggesting IF we get a few more decent players

Rumours abound (from a Lyon team mate) that Utd have practically signed Benzema, but personally tthink its hogwash until I see him in the AIG shirt next to SAF

(Im still very surprised that AIG didnt want to cancel the last year of the contract as Utd have this Chinese electronics company already waiting )

I would love to see Foster given a real chance - but he seems to be made of glass (even now he is out with a thumb injury - or more accurately after surgery to correct a thumb injury)

VDS is a great keeper despite his dodgy moments, but I think this year should be his last. PIG should go, he is never going to be No1 and isnt anywhere near good enough - but we do need another decent keeper even if Foster is given a run at No1 status

Nani isnt ever going to be good enough apart from in CC and maybe early rounds of FA Cup - his shooting is attrocious and decision making just as bad, its a pity but he just hasnt made the grade. I think it will take Tosic a few years to build his torso strength up to be a regular in the team, so we still need another winger, but I wouldnt mind another versatile midfielder like Hargreaves (Yaya Toure would be good but cant see it somehow) and a striker

Bizare, I saw those figures, but I could have sworn it was a Chinese Electronics company of some kind - oooh well maybe that was a (much) smaller deal announced recently, either way still surprised AIG didnt want to be bought out of the deal for the last year

Who is also made of the same glass... I mean really... where are they getting this cheap crap from?

If Hargreaves stays fit, we're pretty good in the middle of the park really... bar the wings IMO.

Carrick, Fletcher, Hargreaves, Anderson... sounds good to me.

I'm having more doubts over Anderson these days, I still think he'll be fantastic but the **** poor performance he put in in the CL final really worried me.

Totally agree we need to drop the PIG and get a better number 2.

Looking at the reports of spending...

Valencia £18m
Benzema £38m
Total of £56m

We should have £24m left from the Ronaldo sale.

If our budget before Ronaldo was £20-30m... we may now be able to say we can still spend another £30-£40m maybe? I don't think the board would let us spend all £80m from the Ronaldo sale plus £20m of our normal budget.

I'd be surprised if we spend more than £60m this summer, gob smacked if we spend £100m anyway :p

Pleased... but gob smacked nonetheless.


There's some fantastic talent out there that we could get for £30-£40m :)
 
I'm not sure who I fancy us to buy really, I'm happy if we got Benzema/Valencia but I'm not sure who else we are likely to get at the moment.
 
Yeah seems like one of those desperation moves you see some newly promoted clubs make, they buy some average striker for £5m or so hoping he will keep them up.

Dunno proven in the Premiership, his first season at Reading especially he was really good for them

Just hope his signing doesn't see Blake dropped to the bench as I've been waiting to see him in the Premiership since he did so well at Plymouth
 
I wonder how many have actually seen Benzema play on here, people always criticise people if they claim to know how good so and so on is (usually in La liga) but who the **** watches French football?!

I know what you mean about OH - but on the other hand its the same piece of glass/injury re-occuring , if its cured Utd should be laughing (unfortunately I dont think its likely, reports are just TOO positive)

I concur about Anderson's performance in the final - however I really do believe even Fletcher instead of Giggs (or even better a fit OH) and the result wouldnt have been so depressing - we may well still have been beaten but Utd would have given a MUCH better performance

A good number of CL performances (incl against Utd) over the last few seasons and he has done ok for a kid his age (actuallly pretty damn good if you ask me) - but no I have to admit to not seeing any league performances

nickbee - dont forget Frazier Campbell is likely to go for £6m, plus maybe a few of the lesser known kids etc - I would concur its unlikely we will spend anything like what should be "available"

We also signed Dodo for £5.5m at some point - although hye wont arrive until Jan / Feb due to finishing Brazilian league or something first
