**Wimbledon 2009, June 22nd -July 5th

Quite the contrast after the 3 hour, 3 set, 8-6 final set victory in the last match!

Venus is going to be much less tired for the final now. She's barely broken a sweat.

Even if I was to get in to watch another match?

You still go in via the same entrance....

Federer Hass

Murray Roddick

Doubt many people will be giving up their center court tickets.....

Saying that i saw a lot of empty seats today but then again there's a reason behind that :D

Probably right but the first semi was the best match of the tournament so far.

Hmm, best women's match maybe. Hewitt vs Roddick was better, and Murray vs Wawrinka was miles better too. Women's tennis is terrible though, if the world number one can get beaten 6-1 6-0 it really says something about the standard of it!

Not meaning to be sexist here, but there was a big hoo ha about equal pay for Women tennis players a couple of years back, but if their matches are generally half as long as the Men's matches and certainly not as good a specticle (with the Serena match being the only exception today). Then the way I view it is that Women tennis players get paid generally twice as much as men...

Venas took that Russian apart today and the speed with which her head dropped was simply embarrasing. Prob just thought I got to the Semi's will still be No1 and have a decent sum of prize money from getting here.

I think if Women deserve equal prize money, they should be made to play the same number of sets. It might improve the specticle as how many men's games go from 2 sets to love, then two sets all with an epic final set (generally a few every Wimbledon)...

Anyway, will climb of my soap box now as won £17.80 on Betfair that Serena would win. Lost £10.00 though on that Russian today as stupidly I actually thought she stood a chance being World No1...

I think its actually unequal for the men now, but no male tennis player can complain about it without all the female players calling him sexist. Its political correctness gone mad to be honest.

The comparison I was making when I was discussing the issue with a friend recently was with working in an office. Imagine one person does a regular 39-hour week and another person does a 25-hour working week, for the exact same job, yet they both get paid the same. There is no way it would be allowed to happen!

Yet the women's tennis players get paid the same amount for less work, and their matches are nowhere near as good. They should either be paid less or be forced to play best of 5-set matches.

I agree with the two posts above, womens tennis is a complete joke compared to mens. If women want the same money they should play the same ammount of tennis.

I don't see any equality.

Maybe el dazza. If we assume that Federer wins in straight sets with 9 or 10 game a set. Thats 27-30 games.

Then you are assuming that the murray game should have at most 45.5-48.5 games. As long as the game is 4 sets or under that is pretty safe.

I don't think the odds are particularly amazing. Throw in Federer losing a set or a couple of tie breakers and the games rack up.

Of course it's not great odds, that's the job of a compiler :p

I've gone with that in the assumption that Federer's going to win fairly comfortably against Haas and Murray's game won't go to 5 sets. A decent percentage of sets don't have a tie-breaker in them, so even 6-4 x 7 (3-0 and 3-1) would be fine. :)

Federer's 1/2 to win 3-0 and I think he's far too good for Haas.

The women's tournament this year has been truly dire. It urgently needs a Henin or a Clijsters or anybody who can hold a candle to the Williamses on grass. Dementieva-Serena was the best women's match of the tournament, but Venus-Safina was downright embarrassing and makes a mockery of the ranking system.

The women's game is as deep as a puddle right now. Aside from the top few, none of the women show any imagination or shot-making skills - they just keep belting it from the baseline until they come up against someone with better groundstrokes. What's the point trying to out-slug Venus and Serena from the baseline? You need to move them around to stand a chance, and Dementieva has been the only player who's done that convincingly.

Add to that that most of the top 20 is composed of incredibly emotionally fragile players who are never more than a couple of double faults away from a complete breakdown of their game...

Heres hoping Murray gets beaten today by Roddick...i like Roddick and wouldnt mind seeing him in the final against Federer.

But as much as id like that to happen, i have a feeling that Murray will beat Roddick:(..wont be easy...well i hope not...looking forward to seeing a decent match...loved the Roddick and Hewitt match the other day..that was epic.

Can't wait for todays tennis, going to be a few good games going on.

Did anyone watch the senior invitationals last night, what a great bit of fun, I love watching these every year and they obviously are doing something right as Court 2 had filled up by the time those guys were half way through the second set. Maybe the ladies need to follow their lead.
