siumatfung,

Good spec, I was set on the same except got advice to go with the phenom 550. No idea which cpu is better/cost effective.

When the e5000 is overclocked, is it better then the amd 550?

Am I right in assuming they both have dual cores?

the amd is a bit vague atm heard ppl getting it to 3.9ghz and unlocking cores but the e5200 is proven and tested that it is a great chip and for value:D

My contribution, i know you said intel but the other two seem to of got in there first with about the best intel you are gonna get. Figured i'd put this for some comparison

I know it has gone above my £500 limit, but it seems like a good deal, can someone tell me if I got it right and that all parts are compatible.

thanks

You have chosen triple channel ram which which will work but you would only use 2 sticks for dual channel.
Change the HD to the Samsung F1.

That £600 will push ur Intel spec further too =]

That board overclocks well and the CPU + cooler combination will work well =]

I agree that the megahalems cooler is brilliant - but for this kind of money you could go for a simple Arctic cooling freezer 7 and get a q6700. Also, that Nvidia board is not great - something like this P35 board clocks better and runs cooler. Also, the p35 support crossfire - so this card would perform similarly and save a few bob.

Alternatively- go with the spec skippy suggested and use this PSU and the above graphics card.

I really like this mobo, had no issues at all and its running cool even in this weather.
No harm in getting a better cooler than needed, will help overclock.
Surely the E7500 would be better for gaming than a Q6700, and duals are easier to overclock than quads anyway.
