I have a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard with 4 memory slots i am running OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel Kit can i add a 4th 2GB to make 8 GB.

If so what will the diff be with speed etc.

thank you in advance

Looking at the motherboard manual from here it looks like 4 modules in triple channel should work.

You may need to drop the memory speed a bit to get 4 sticks working stably. Just make sure you get a memory module which is of the same spec as your current ones.

Having 4 sticks in a triple channel board will probably lower you down to single channel mode.

This will lower performance a bit.

it does say
3 channel--
when enabling 3 channel mode with 3 or 4 modules it is recommended that the memory of the same capacity, brand, speed and chips are used.

dont wanna buy and extra chip to go from 6 gig triple to 8 gig single thats for sure

Aye, if you can find a single stick like the ones you currently have - you should be fine and in triple channel. If not, I wouldn't bother.
