Nope, not for me :)

A friend is after a small hatchback for £1000. We are looking at getting one from auction or private sale.

Could somebody fill me when the cambelt should be changed for the following please?

Fiesta 1.25 16v

Fiat Punto 1.2 8v & 16v mk2

Vauxhall Corsa C 1.2 16v.

Cheers.

Fiesta 1.25 - 100k or 10 years, 60k to be on the safe side as snapped belt = doom. There's not a single MK4 that should be on it's original belt.

I know you didnt ask which one would be recommended, but just so you know - 2 are fail, 1 is win... if you dont know which, you havent been around here for very long

I wonder if thats by design or by fluke :)

Are there many more engines like that?

By design, many 2 valve engines are like this.

FIRE has a lot of design features. Like when the rocker cover rim contacts the head, the rocker cover seal is correctly compressed.

To be fair a 1k Corsa C or MK2 Punto will be fail as many examples at that price range are dogs where £1000 will buy a mint MK4 Fiesta.

Thats really cool, I genuinely never knew such things existed - you learn something new every day :)

Still, I dont need to worry, cam chain for the win :D

I know of a 1998 Fiesta 1.25 16v, crica 70k?, just had a full cambelt kit and service for sale. £950 if your interested? A mate of mine is selling and is only in Shifnal ;)
