Post your bikes thread

Ive always like the look of the old 400s, especially for my diminutive legs :) Looks like a nice one, would also be interested in the cost

Can I ask a quick tyre related question.

Need to replace the Avon Viper Sport on the back of my Falco. As I have the same on the front, is it safe to run another brand or should I stick with Avon until I need to replace both?

I've often had the same dilemma. I've always been told to stick with the same brand & design as it's far more important for tyres to be matched on a bike than on a car. Something to do with water dispersion and compounds or some such. For that reason, along with the fact that my tyres never wear out at the same time, I've ended up sticking with Dunlop...

Got it for £1200, UK clocks on it, micron exhaust, scottoiler, 27k miles, M Reg.

Starts perfectly, revs nicely (to red line :D)

Looks like a good deal, as long as it starts up first time and has been maintained well.

As an example, I bought my Honda CBR125 for £1200. 2006 model, with 8000 miles on the clock.

So, although mine is a newer bike, yours is much faster.

I find that although the cbr125 has a theoretical top speed of around 70mph, its comfortable cruising speed is closer to 55mph...any faster and it feels as if the bike is struggling.

Obviously, you bike will be able to cruise comfortably at the national speed limit.

thats true.. i didnt want a 125 as i know id get too bored too quick, so wanted something above.. the 600s insurance prices were way too high, so i decided on a 400, and since i love the look of the ZXR400 that was the one i wanted..

Shame it has to be restricted :(

Cadwell is awesome. Well worth the 600mile round trip (God, I hate people who live close to tracks :( )

Made a short video too, although if I was going any slower I'd have to get off and walk :)

Hi,

Haven't been in the Motors section for ages but was browing around when I saw this and wanted to say two things,

Thanks for the video it brought back good memories of racing at Cadwell in my MG Midget :D

And yes it was slow ;)

Cheers, Simon.

I certainly wasn't going as fast as I wish I could had done but I'm normally a little like that first time at a new track and I had very little confidence after a highside 2 weeks earlier, just to add to the excuses :) I also had a shoulder injury (from the highside), turns out I have torn my rotator cuff in my shoulder :(

Got some pics of my poor old bike last night

I'm not much of a wheelie man or a knee down person either - on the road I don't ahve the opportunity, maybe on a track where I can concentrate more on tipping the bike over and moving on the pegs I might - but I still make decent progress n the roads without. :) Sure I have unscratched knee pads but if ever I do push it too far and it does happen at least I'll have something there. :)

This is my previous bike...i prefer my Busa though:)

nice, thats 4 of us here who have or have had ZX12s, one of those being Spie himself if I remember :)

i actually prefered the ZX12 to Busa, but that was the old shape one not new...only kept Busa from brand new for 4 weeks before chopping it for a R1, god knows what I was thinking :(

that suprises me as on the box hill ride out I assumed you were abit of a knee down hero, your knee was only a couple of inches from deck on few occasions :)

Sorry its slightly OT, seen a few KTM's on here. Whats everyones opinion on the 690 Duke, good first bike? Once I pass my test I wouldnt mind one.

Really? Cool, shame you didn't have a cam! :p

Well I don't "try" to do it, I just crank the bike over and hope for the best! :p I like to try and get the weight over so I can keep the throttle on a little and drop the shoulder and keep the bike balanced, but shifting 100kg of me becomes hardwork :D

You carry enough corner speed to easily get your knee down (well from what I could see you were all far back.... lol joke) so get your ass off the seat and get it done :p
