Battlefield 1943

I'm hopeless in the plane. The tutorial doesn't give you dogfighting practice - I can't seem to shake off anyone who's behind me nor hit anyone in front of me. :D

It's tough, but you get used to it and you get much better the more you fly. I've shot down two planes now in four hours of play :p

I'm yet to kill anyone with a well-dropped bomb, but I'm getting better.

Do you have to drop the bombs before youre over the target or when youre directly over it?
I need to practise a lot in the planes lol.

Fav class so far is certainly not Sniper, seems to be a slight delay from when you shoot to when it hits, most the time I miss when IS wear its directly on them cos the shot doesnt seem instant!

Yeah the bomb dropping is great....I though planes were going to be really overpowered but they're not....I've only killed about 2-3 people (bombs) with 30 mins+ of plane time on servers.

I agree. Sniper is usually a good class but there is a delay when you activate the scope, another delay when you fire. As mentioned though, it's probably all to do with game balance. You can't have one class more powerful than the others.

Dislike with the battlefield series how hard it is to kill someone on the run, judging additional distance is deadly.

Also can you not kill infantry using the tank's cannon? It seems a tad stupid that but I guess it helps avoid overpowering them.

Skill levels seem supremely bad, disappointing clan matches wont really be possible as thats where the fun would be at.

Also is the squad achievement a bit flawed? I was on the best squad every map a good 3-4 times each yet havent got it...does it have to be the same squad, i.e. the same gaming session or something?

On the bombing front while practicing i found it's best to actually dive bomb the enemy. By that i mean get some height and then dive at them, line your reticule up with whatever you want to bomb (assuming it's not moving, lead the target if it is) then when you're about to pull out of the dive, drop the bombs. If you got the angle of dive right (about 45 degrees) the bombs will hit bang on target.

Don't quote me on this, but I recall the original BF1942 took into account all kinds of things with sniper rifles. Like the trajectory and velocity of the bullet, the bullet dropping over long distances, and the time it takes for the bullet to travel a long distance (like a lag of a second or so as the bullet actually moves across the map), etc. Not sure if this has been factored into this game as well.

I found the sniper class to be the best. I was popping heads left and right with the sniper rifle. Couldn't get a kill with the other classes.

anyone notice the lack of splash dmg with the tank? I swear to god I fire my main gun at a soldier and he just walks away.

Yeah it was driving me mad the other night - had a guy in front of me jumping around and hiding in bushes and I must have fired 5 shells at and around him and he was unharmed :(

LOL. I've had people walk straight through my tank fire in order to get behind me (turning the turret is not quick enough to track them) and then blow my ass up. It's easier to get out of the tank and shoot the buggers.

Another thing I've noticed - the Japanese with their melee katana can get a killing swipe on you from yards away. I was thrusting my bayonet ten to the dozen at one coming toward me but he got the kill in. :(

Anyone else getting some graphic artefacts every now and then....

purple ones mainly, across the screen.
