Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

I've had a few crashes myself, but I'd still recommend it, using 7232 and going to give 7264 a go shortly. Often the crashes are down to application issues, I think I had a few with Prime when setting it to Real Time mode for example.

What I would recommend is grab a spare drive, install it on that, give it a go and if you don't like it or have any driver issues with obsure hardware you still use. Then you can quickly go back without screwing up your current installation by just switching your drives over. That's what I did and I never went back to Vista.

Try signing up to the RC on the MS site, they will issue you with a key before you download. Worth a go anyways, just burning 7264 to disc atm.

Just read this:

Beta/RC keys don't work!
http://tweaks.com/articles/39088/extend-activation-period-to-180-days/ :
Would you like to extend the activation period to the maximum 120 days instead of the 30 day period that is set by default? It is possible and legal to do this using the software licensing manager in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Simply run slmgr -rearm to get another 30 days at an administrative level command prompt. You can do this a maximum of three times before Microsoft blocks further extensions.

Just to clarify what I was on about with build 7264 having now installed the x64 version of it myself on my SSD, the RC and Beta key's don't appear to work. When it asks you for a key, during installation, just leave it blank and it should complete the installation fine.

Now you do of course need to activate it within 30 days, there are two options here:

1) You can use process this to extend the activation length: http://tweaks.com/articles/39088/extend-activation-period-to-180-days/

2) Or you can use the activation crack that has recently appeared.

When u guys install nvidia drivers do u also install nTune? If so the latest i can find is Version: 5.05.47.00
Release Date: July 12, 2007

This seems a bit old and obviously doesnt have a W7 version is there a newer one or do u just use the Visat 64 version?

Installed 7100 today and so far very impressed. definitely running much lighter than vista was. Had no issues with apps or hardware so far with the exception of my old creative SB Live!42 external. The beta win7 drivers are a bit rubbish.

I tella lie, had one more problem that i was devastated about.....ultramon doesn't work!!!! Using displayfusion in the meantime which is alright until the get UM fixed.

All done in about 15 minutes, awesome!

Got a blue screen after plugging 2nd HDD in for the first time, missed the Ctrl+I for Raid setup. ><

Task bar is a bit random! As is notification area.

Good stuff, going to install some games now.

Random? Personally the pinning icons to the taskbar is a great feature, really tidy's things up.

Yep drivers is where I'm having issues,(HP C6380 Printer) more info here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Software&thread.id=2698 ,Vista drivers work fine in Vista but not Win 7 RC ,to be fair its not Win7 fault since its not officially released yet, at this time its not perfect for sure whatever the hype from some users, its a good OS but not perfect.
