A little heads up that 'Top Gear - The Great Adventures 2' is now on sale at 15.99 on DVD.

No Bluray release as yet.

It includes the Vietnam special and the Directors Cut of the Botswana (OLIVER!!!) special.

I picked mine up today. :)

DVD Extras include commentaries, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes photo gallery.

Just a slight heads up regarding the new series. The Top Gear team were spotted at a classic car auction in north norfolk for part of a challenge.

skippi90, the directors cut of the botswana special, you watched it yet, is it much different from the episode shown on tv.

Can't wait for new series to start, I watch them on dave but parts are cut out due to adverts, boo.

Seems to be the same but with added bits like a Ray Mears survival joke called Mears My Ride :p

Which usually consists of good parts of the news and banter between peices in the show. They are usually the best parts too.

I'll keep waiting :( Arctic special in HD was awesome, need another fix.

Since this is the Top Gear thread, I'll ask this question in it...

Why do Dave find it necessary to ruin the soundtrack of all Top Gear episodes with their own ridiculous half assed music.
Kills half the scenes, so annoying.

Ask on the Dave webbie, they are pretty forth-coming, apparently.

I think I should also mention that the wife spotted the Atom at the top of this page (man sized pages) and reckons the windshield is for ****** (cats?)
and that you should wear a helmet or, better still, sunglasses and keep your mouth closed :D

Licencing issues, as simple as that. As far as I'm aware, the BBC have long had in place agreements with the major record labels that allow them to use their extensive collections for broadcasts.

This licence doesn't extend to non-BBC channels, nor DVDs to the best of my knowledge [or at least a different licence is required for permanent media].

Which is one reason why all of Clarkson's stocking-filler programmes have that unique soft-rock instrumental music so familiar to anyone that's watched porn since the eighties.

Erm, I expect.
