My company phone is on Vodafone, all our company phones are Vodafone and I've always had a pretty rubbish signal here at home. It's a pain because I'm on call so I need to get decent reception around the house and garden.

Vodafone recently announced and released their Vodafone Access Gateway. As I'm in charge of our phone contract I arranged to get a couple of these.

I swapped my Blackberry Curve for the Bold as the gateway only generates a 3G signal and my Curve isn't 3G. Both the gateway and the Blackberry arrived on Thursday so I set it all up on Friday and it works a dream!

I now get a full five bars 3G signal all throughout the house and down into the garden. Audio quality is superb as I'd expect these days on a VoIP system.

If you're on Vodafone, have a poor signal at home and an ADSL broadband connection, I can really recommend one of these boxes.

Now I want one for O2 and one for Orange! Shame they don't exist yet.

Interesting - phone signal here is a total pain so I'm rather tempted to get hold of one of these, especially as I can't actually use my mobile at my office desk, so we spend an absolute fortune on landline > mobile calls and end up wasting half the inclusive minutes on my work phone.

An update - got one today from a Vodafone store after the manager decided he could sell me the unit they had for demo purposes. How long did yours take to get turned on Feek? I've submitted the form on the Vodafone website but I'm impatient :D

No, they seem to create an IPSec VPN tunnel into Vodafone's network and create a 3G signal locally, the same as a mast would. You could plug one in with zero external coverage and it'll create a 30m coverage zone.

Got one of these last week as my signal is pants here. Works brilliantly. Took just under 24 hours for mine to go live.
I managed to get it for half price as I'm a new customer and was assured the signal here was great. I wouldn't class hanging out the upstairs window as great coverage though! :p

Mine works great too, I had to put it on the private part of the network as for some reason it didn't like having a public IP - bizarre!

Just thought I'd update this with a picture - it's a lot smaller than I thought! Still working nicely after a week or so :)

Absolutely but it will save us a fortune, probably pay for itself within 6 months even, not counting the fact that I can actually answer my work phone at my desk now.

Wouldn't help me much :( my problems with getting vodafone signal is in areas away from the house :( very patchy covereage around here.
