Doest anyone else hate hot food? My interest was sparked from the Chilli growing thread. I just don't see the joy. My dad loves really hot food and any time we go to a restaurant he orders the spiciest hot thing on the menu. Usually a vindaloo or something.

I don't get it. How come your mouth doesn't burn and mine does. I'm one of the only people I know who detests hot food. I love Mexican and Indian food. Just not the hot dishes. If you like hot food. Why?

I understand trying to articulate why you like anything is difficult but do try, I might get the jist.

I love hot food. To each his own. I also like girls. Seeing as you can't chow down on a chili you probably like the fellas, but why not;)

its just one of those things, some people have a higher tolerance to the spice and enjoy the endorphine rush you get from it. Others don't - i wouldn't worry about it, just a matter of taste (but your missing out ;) :p)

I can appreciate spicy food, but if it gets too hot I just find it overpowers everything else.

So yeah, I'm not a massive fan of overly spicy food. Can't resist a good chili though.

Yeah I don't understand it when people order a really hot curry, for me the morning after on the toilet is simply NOT worth it, or maybe I'm more sensitive down there than most :p

I'll stick with Makhani's and Massala's, you know, stuff that you can actually taste.

Although strangely I'm totally fine with hot Mexican food, it must be the different type of chilli, I can eat a Jalapeño raw, but that stuff they put in Indian food kills me.

Absolutely love hot food, and always spice up anything i possibly can. It is one of those things which is impossible to explain.

I'm not very good at dealing with hot food so I have to avoid it. Even the slightest hint of chilli and my mouth goes numb and my nose starts to run - no fun in that! :(

I'm another one who doesnt eat stupidly hot food just because it's stupidly hot. I'll happily eat something spicy if it tastes good, but not if it's just going to leave me walking funny for a couple of days.

PK!

For clarity I'm not talking about a dish that gives a bit of a kick. I'm talking hot. Food that makes you sweat hot. Like stuff drenched in XXX tabasco crap. The kind of dish that makes children cry.

Buritos, Massalas and Jalapeños don't count.

There's different tastes even when it comes to people who like hot food - I like a spicy currry or mexican but there is a limit beyond which you can't taste the food anymore imo, one of my friends on the other hand has never met a curry too hot for him...

After a while of eating it you will find that nothing is served hot enough to make you sweat or anything like that. Been years since a restaurant ever managed that. At home with stuff like daves ultimate insanity sauce you can obviously experiment, at which point it becomes a game.

it's not that I hate hot food, I just can't stick it. I can't even finish a whole packet of Hot and Spicy Monster Munch :( Cannot eat curry or anything like that.

I hate it when people say "how can you enjoy hot food when all it does iss burn". Your taste buds become accustomed to hot food and it is enjoyable just as non-hot food is. Plus you get the endorphine rush.

I LOVE hot food, but theres is a point. Why eat something if you can't taste it? As far as I am concerned you could be eating raw capsicum, but as long as you can taste it then whats the problem!
