..the Overclockers UK meets?

There used to be threads kicking around all the time, a few years ago. That got me thinking;

I cannot remember the last time I saw one (Motors doesn't count :p).

Was the posting of meet threads banned or did they fizzle out? I tried a search.

"Hello there!"
"Hi."
"Yellow thar!"
*long silence*
"... sooo ... how's it going? I'm Ben M"
*Ben gets pushed under a bus*
"YOU WERE BANNED. BAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNED!"
"WHAT THE ****"
"Jesus christ! He's dead, he's actually dead  ... wait a minute, who the **** are you?"
"platinum87"
*everybody runs*

I'm not sure if it would even take that long for a fatality.

There used to be loads of meets all over the country. But a lot of the regular organisers and attenders left (though some have now returned) so meets have declined. They still meet up often, it's just not here. No reason why it can't get off the ground again but it can be hard work :)

The problem is that nobody seems to want to take on the mantle of organising meets. We've had the odd person try but they don't follow the golden rules.

Most threads I've seen start off by suggesting a meet somewhere but with no thought or ideas behind them. They'll suggest rough places and possible dates and in the end it all fizzles out with nothing happening.

The way to do it is to decide when and where and what's happening, and then post that. The date/place is not open for discussion although the plan of what to do may well be.

But nobody can be arsed any more. It's a shame, there have been some fantastic meets and I've made many real friends through them over the years and I still see them regularly.

How about an OcUK Alton Towers meet? It's close to the regulars and the shops home of Stoke, everyone knows it, and there's enough things to do to cut out awkward silences.

I've never been to one but I was only young when I joined, 20 now. I vote:

Alton Towers, Cambridge and Leeds.
