Have you ever had 'flu?

Once, just after I got home from a holiday in spain, got back and the day after I was out of it, sweating, vomiting, diorea the lot, it was not fun, the worst part was my head was completely messed up, I kept waking up in the middle of the night to straighten my bed sheets out because I thourght for some reason I had to or something terrible would happen.

I have only ever had it once but claimed to have it many more.

I know it was the flu because of the hot and cold sweats and being bed ridden. I remember waking up and feeling so weak I could barely lift up the bed sheets! It was a terrible experience.

Once full flu (bed 5+ days), once not so bad (bed 2 days). Tis certainly a world apart from 'a bad cold'. Good diet though :D

Yup, had it back in 1995, knocked me silly for 2 weeks and all I could manage was to crawl from my bed to the couch, then back to bed at the end of the each day. I remember literally crawling on my hands and knees as walking made me feel like I was either going to pass out or vomit my guts up.

It always makes me laugh when people are off work for a couple of days, then come back in and say they had the Flu. Only those who've really had it know just how bad it is.

Ive had gasteric flu once and that was most terrible. My wife had 'normal' flu once and was in bed for a week. She's a dentist by trade, and she said to me she was so ill that if we could have removed one of her arms to make her feel better then she would have done it! That shows you how bad it was. Ive honestly never in my life seen anyone as ill as she was that week. I was so shocked by it.

Yeah I did! Its on par with food poisoning!
You know you have it when you consider wetting/soiling the bed just so then you dont have to get up!
I wouldnt want to have it again!

I also must admit to considering urinating on my bed rather than go to the toilet, due to the migraine, weakness and nausea.

I've just got over it. I thought I had food poisoning, but after two days I started to also get the sneezes and a blocked up nose. For some reason, the fever had me thinking I had to help build a church, and If I didn't, then monks would attack me in my sleep. The weird thing is that I don't even believe . As a result, I gradually became more and more worried as I hadn't got a clue how to build it.

As mentioned, far too many people say they have the flu when it's a cold.

I've only ever had real 'flu once. I was paralysed for almost a day, and it took another day before my muscles worked properly again. Bloody awful it was.

Just once, Feb 2008, and by all accounts it was a fairly mild bout.

Started to come down with it on the Saturday morning, but put it down to a hangover, by Sunday it was a definite case of knowing there'd be no work on Monday.

For the next 4 days I just lay on the sofa all day, drifting in and out of consciousness, I don't remember too much.

Friday, I went to work, which was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done, not entirely sure how I made it through.

I can tolerate man-flu, but actual flu just knocks you for six.

Yep, I had it once when I was 17, I can't actually remember 3 days of it due to being so out of it, I thought I was dieing :/

Theres so many high and mighty people on here thinking oh you havent had flu unless you've been in bed for 5 days and you lose an arm. Its ridiculous. Flu effects people in different ways, people have different immune systems, differing strains of flu etc etc. Ive had flu before a few times, I felt crap but wasnt in pain for 5 damn days - dont tell me I dint have flu because I certainly did. Im currently suffering from flu (most likely Swine) First day/day and a half was horrible but after that it isnt so bad. We are all different.

Yup, had the flu once, it escalated to full blown flu on xmas day 2008.

I was in bed for the best part of 5 days, nausea, sweating (hot and cold) unable to sleep etc etc.

The only good thing about it is that i stopped smoking as i hadnt had one for 5 days i decided not to have any ever again.

It really is a dreadful virus to have, anyone who says they have had flu and dont have the above symptoms is a plank.

I remember feeling too ill to actually call work to say I wasn't coming in. That was so much effort, that phonecall :D
