Just got back from a screening and I couldn't help but feel disappointed after the huge wait, this film seemed to diverge away from the books more so than the predecessors and I couldn't help but feel that it was weaker as a result. It's a shame as Half Blood Prince is my favourite book in the series but I think Goblet of Fire remains my favourite film of the series so far.

Anyone else feel the same?

im watching it tonight and will post my opinions also, however im surprised that goblet of fire is your favoruite, its my least favorite (doesnt mean i dislike it tho) imo either zkaban or order are the best.

I've really been looking forward to the film, but I thought the book was weak.

Harry: Wait, how did you get here?! Where did that bit of the plot come from.
X: Well, if you go back to the 1st/2nd film/book and read 3rd line on page 211, you will find it mentioned there.
Harry: *reads*..... oh yeah. Damn

Was just a bit of a meh 'twist' regarding access to Hogwarts! The big twist at the end had me pretty shocked when I read it ().

I found the 6th book to be one of my least liked - it basically revolved around this..
Harry: Malfoy is a baddy!
Everyone Else: Give over, he's not that bad!

---------- Draco is a baddy ----------

Harry: Told you so.

Half Blood Prince is possibly my favourite of the books. I'll go and see the movie, but I'm 100% certain I'll be disappointed, just like I was with the last 5. Obviously because they steer away from the books, leave out important bits and add pointless bits, but also because I just think the acting is absolutely terrible.

But of course I'll go watch it because it is my duty as a fan! Just not on opening night, for fear of seeing people dressed up as wizards. I can maybe understand kids doing it, but I've seen full grown men and women do it, which I find quite sad...

Agreed on the acting, it really is awful.

The final chapter to the Deathly Hallows is probably one of the gayest, lamest endings to anything ever in the history of everything.

Agreed, it felt totally out of place. Apparently it was written before the rest of the book.

The chapter should have just been edited out - it would have been a much better ending.

Indeed they should've just killed em all off and have Voldemort Win!

Yeah exactly, it was just so horribly cringeworthy with their children and all this god-awful sugar coated nonsense; totally unnecessary. Hermione should have died, the whole Weasley family should have died and Harry should have contracted cancer. I hope that its omitted from the film(s) at any rate.

I'm not disagreeing, but it was plain to see why she had written that chapter and that it had to be included in the book.

Going to see the movie on Sunday in IMAX 3D :).

I aint seen a single harry potter film or book for obvious reasons. But anyway are they worth a watch or are they quite bad and kiddy like.

If you read them as a child and grew up with them, both are enjoyable.

If you haven't experienced either, they are pretty good family films, but you may wish to skip the first two books which are more obviously aimed towards children than the later ones.

When I tried to read the first book recently, it read something like:

"Harry is a wizard - can you spot his wizard hat? Pull the tab to see the owls flap their wings, twit-twoo!"

Ahaha yeah, the poor cinema staff had to wear wizard hats and capes. My heart went out to them.
