*** Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22" Widescreen Monitor @ £199.97 ***

need the 24" version if only it existed :)

There is a 23" and a 24" version named the S2309W and the S2409W respectively. I have the 2309W and its great! Will be getting the 2409W for my new i7 build in August. Although I could be tempted by this! ;)

Sorry man, they arn't the same range. The 2209WA has an E-IPS panel, which is pretty rare in this price range, hence the interest.

The S2409w and s2309w are doubtless nice monitors (all Dell's monitors seem to be high quality) but they use the more conventional TN panels.

If dell made a 24in version of the 2209WA in the sub £300 range, I know there would be a lot of takers.

Ditto as was saying need the 24" version with the same uber high quality for under 300 notes would make it top pickings.

I'm working on a 24" version now - it won't be Dell obviously but if it's an IPS panel at the right price then it should match the performance quite happily.

No-one here will be disappointed with the performance. Most ppl here set the brightness to 10, contrast to 75, and leave the vidcard adjustments at default:).

I have tried these lower settings, but I can't see why anybody would do this and have brightness set at 90% and contrast at 83%. I also have my 2407 running at similar brightness/contrast settings.

Is there something wrong with my eyes? :p

I decided that i will go for this one instead of 2408wFP because just realised that i want have enough money...and it is better buyign 22 inch IPS than 24 inch TN, right?;)

Next monday i order my new i7 system from OcUk at a total price of 1200pounds

;)

Received mine today and looks nice

The bezel at the bottom does reflect the screen slightly but its not really an issue

Thanks Beerbaron, I bought one and it arrived today.

The reflection on the bezel does seem to be only slight, dont think it will affect me. The way I've got my toolbar setup, Its actually quite a nice effect :D

Nice picture too. No dead pixels.

Now all I have to do is try and set it to 1680x1050@75Hz (on linux), 60Hz at the moment. anyone know how to do this?

They did delivery in the first 100 minutes of the day? Outstanding :D

Man I want this monitor badly.

joy.division try stepping the resolution down as I think some people have said you need to drop the resolution to increase the frequency, try it and see I suppose.

ya, wrote that last night, had a hell of a time trying to get the manual off the disc that comes with the monitor, it wouldnt run (or even get recognised) on a windows laptop.

But when I did manage to look at the manual, it said this:

optimal preset res: 1680x1050@60Hz
highest preset res: 1680x1050@75Hz

so I think it can be done. Hope so anyway because I've got fairly sensitive eyes, and I could do with that bit extra.

If not I'll drop it down :)
