So my Passat is whinning for its second service.
(Every 19k miles or 2 years whichever comes first apparently).

Got a quote from VW and its £260, which is a bit steep considering they will only be changing the oil/oil filter, pollen filter, regassing the aircon, visual inspection etc.

I havent even started to haggle, but I wanted all your advice on this. Is it worth me taking it into a VW dealer, or could I get away with approved VW garages (not sure if the likes of Quick-Fit would qualify here?).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Any garage can do your service and not void the warranty as long as they use genuine parts and do it right. Nationally there are loads of VAG group (is the "group" redundant?) specialists who will do it for less.

ALSO check out Audi, Seat and Skoda dealerships to see if they'll do it for cheaper as some of the cars in the range share many/most parts.

i dont think £260 is that bad considering its long intervals, ring a skoda garage i bet they'll be a bit cheaper

£260 is expensive however you mention the aircon is getting regassed ? This will be £60-70 at a dealer. The 2nd service on my Golf cost £230 with a brake fluid change which added £40 so I would expect a service to be around £190-200 for a Passat. You could then knock £20 off this by supplying your own oil. Skoda dealer were the same price, Audi dealer wanted £310 !.
