You can, just on cracked servers. I remember Rob Bowling throwing a hissy fit just after the first game was released about the number of people playing on cracked servers. Unfortunately he neglected to address the pricing issue attatched to the game and I can't help but think people would have continued to pirate just to get back at him, IW and Activision.

I never bought Modern Warfare and ended up borrowing it from a friend (really!). Honestly, it was a good game but I didn't think it was worthy of the £35 they were charging for it in high street stores or the £30 I could often find it for online. If MW2 is going to retail for more then I will definetly not be buying it, even if it is the "definitive shooting experience" people are already claiming it to be.

The game doesn't really suffer on cracked versions either. Due to the rules on this forum I can't talk about it in detail but from my experience and the experiences of people I know, cracked versions often play just as well as the real thing.

Yes but you cannot play on non-cracked servers, it meens you can only play with other cracked players, meaning no competitive gaming, as well as removing the majority of people to play vs.

Whereas Valve have proven that cheap games sell, Activision have decided to take a different approach it seems. I suppose they'll blame a lack of sales on piracy and the pc as a dieing format.

This sums up my feelings on the matter perfectly.

Personally, we're not totally against the idea of paying a bit more for games that give a bit more in terms of length and replayability, such as most epic RPGs. Games that only offer a handful of hours and then a compensatory multiplayer offering though? £55 is unarguably steep, in our opinion - especially when you consider what else you could do with £55.

As someone else said earlier in this thread, when the £ was crushing everything around it, did we see a reduction in the cost of games?

honestly i cant wait for this game to come out when it comes to cod you never go wrong but from the screenshots i can tell this game will have a nice graphics boost cant wait :D

I've preordered ages ago at £30, what does this price issue mean then? Am i gonna get billed for the £50 if it is that high?

lol, the idea of the game being £55 is utter comedy...
Even on the 360 I only paid £30 for CoD:MW when it came out. I'm not going to change my ways, I've never pre-ordered before and I'm not about to start now.

Rip off Britain, piracy will sort out any money grabbing ways... Sigh.

I guarantee you, the terms of conditions of most sites will protect themselves.

If the site you ordered from has taken the money already, then you should get it at that price.

If they take the money on release, you should get charged the cost on release. You will however get notifications of any increases/decreases so you can cancel at any time.

I'm pretty sure that there is one exception to this though, but I'm not sure. iirc with one specific retailer, you pay the cost at ordering, unless it goes down in price, then you'd pay that instead.

the console versions are still 42.99 been like that for a while long before this announcement
i wonder how long before they jack up the price

also they hoping this game will be the fastest selling ever with 17 million or so sold in the first month or two or some crap like that

good luck

PC Gamers will not be getting the Prestige edition of MW2....

Yesterday, Mats aka 'SpacePig', one of OpenWarfareMod's co-creators asked IW's point-man this question regarding whether the uber-limited MW2 "Prestige Edition", containing night-vision-goggles, would be available for PC gamers.
Source " @fourzerotwo no prestige for pc?" - SpacePig

Not to my surprise, spacepig reports the following response:
"Nope. Hardened and Standard edition for PC." - Fourzerotwo

Yet again, IW has not gone the extra mile for the PC community.

For months, I've been harping at how IW treats the PC community: as though we were suffering from halitosis. Many have ignored the comments...is that due to the huge impact CoD4 has had on PC gaming? Does IW deserve a pass? Is it acceptable to continue getting second rate treatment?
