Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Anyone on the 7600 build have problems with x86 internet explorer freezing up for some time then working again but freezing up again and again?

Is it cool to upgrade my win7 installation from 7232 to 7600 rather than do a clean install?
I don't really have the facilities to do a clean install.

Do you have skype installed? If so disable the addons, that done it for me, also install flash as that was locking up a lot of sites for me also.

Should sort it out for ya :)

Cheers, worked perfectly :)

I googled it and I knew it said about disabling add ons but never bothered looking as I never expected any add ons to be there, did not realise skype had add ons :p

I'm having a problem with 7100 where I can't play regional DVDs due to some (I assume) protection error or similar. I think it might be because of the age of the gfx card (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro). Has anyone else experienced/solved this? Non-regional DVDs (i.e. exempt from classification) work fine.

Try anydvd, it's a small app that strips the regional code from dvds when you play them, www.slysoft.com, you can get a free 30 day trial from link.

Thanks for the suggestion, that would alleviate the problem, but this is a second hand HTPC being setup by me on someone else's behalf, so it needs to work properly and for more than 30 days (I won't be purchasing anydvd due to shoestring budget unfortunately). I guess it's a flaw in windows 7 with these old cards...back to vista then, unless someone can confirm a newer build works?

Guys,
After a little advice as its been a while since I installed and then uninstalled W7.

I think I have the 7100 version on DVD but I see a lot of people are talking about 7600. However when I go to the Windows download site its still RC 7100.

Can someone explain please as I need to go back to W7 as Vista is doing my head in.

:)

The 7600 people are talking about is a leaked build so won't be available from Microsoft. The Windows 7 release candidate build 7100 will be fine.

I shouldn't make a difference how old your card is, most likely the dvd drive is region locked, the only way around it is to either flash the firmware to region free, or use Anydvd, what make is the dvd drive?

Due to my Xp install finally giving up the ghost (thanks ATI) I have moved over to win7 7229. I have, after many days of tweaking and cajoling, I have gotten it to act and feel the way I want it, as well as managing to get all of my peripherals working (Logitech were late to the game, but came through in the end).

I have Win7 pre-ordered, is there any chance I'll be able to use the key I'll get in October with my current install? It was such a pain in the arse to bend win7 to my will, I'd rather not have to go through it again if possible. What I have now is perfect.

Nate

It's quite an old compaq drive, and it's set on region 2, and has worked perfectly with DVDs on Xp and Vista.
