Hi everyone,

I'm building a new pc with these specs (so far) -
AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition 2.8GHz (Socket AM3),
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard,
Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel (KHX8500D2K2/4G).

Can someone recomend a harddrive to go with this.Ideally from the £40 to £80 range.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply guys,

would an antec 380w power supply out of my old pc be ok for this?
Also my old graphics card geoforce 9600gt.

cheers

Gaming.
Mainly for arma 2 and hopefully the new modern war 2 and operation flashpoint games when they come out.

I'm on a budget and don't want to spend a fortune but would like the games to run smoothly on a medium graphic setting.

It doesn't need to be the best everything or the most powerful, i only play a few games but my current system is stopping me from enjoying arma 2 to it's full potential (having to play on all the lowest settings and still having slowdown and jerky movements on screen).

Hi,

That should be more then adequate. In fact that PSU could be used for the next PC you build. But there is, or was a 600 watt version on TWO, but it is now the same price as the 700 watt now on TWO.

However I have noted that you are going to use a 9600GT graphics card, I think you would only need a 450 watt, for example Corsair do a 450 watt PSU for £54.99

To sum up.

A Nvidia GTX 260 GPU would need a 550 watt PSU, however for your 9600GT, 450 watts would be fine.

Superewza,

ideally i wanted to spend between £300 - £400 but i think that's looking like wishfull thinking right now.

Will the new phenom chip need a new fan and heat sink as well?.

CPU is retail and comes with heatsink and fan.
