The biggest poker game of the year

1 hour levels? wow, how long do you plan on playing per day

also what's the blind stucture?

8 hrs per day ( 9.5 with breaks )

day 1 finishes at 300-600

day 2 40 min levels with antes , hopefully ending 8000/16000/1500 after 8 hrs

if you want full structure will post later

Sounds great, where was the table from?

was made for pokerdownthepub.com by masino gaming

was to be used for the final table of their events

pdtp.com were taken over by redtooth and at the time I was in possession of a £1200 table that I had borrowed

that was a year ago ;)

Gutted! Won't be able to mate (providing it wasn't a hollow offer ;)). I'm rebuilding two sun directories tomorrow at work and on Sunday I have a fund raiser for the wild challenge. :(

if ever you fancy a game we have a monthly casual game ( £30 f/o ) in local pub or better still a night at DTD

We need something like DTD down here, there's sod all. I need to play more live poker, just no opportunities to. My live tourny stats are 1 MTT win out of 2 and 3 SNG wins out of 3, not exactly impressive but profitable and something I want to build on :D

Live is where it is at, I run a near 0% ROI online ( mainly due to losses when ****ed ) but last year was over 250% live :)

while your live stats are only a small amount its a bloody good start

That's an impressive ROI. I have the same trouble online, it's too easy to play when plastered and go silly. Ok, once I turned $30 into $850 in 45 minutes and ended up playing 5/10NL (and getting a royal flush no less..!) but that was a one-off and too often it's gone the other way.

My live games were 3 x £10 9-man SNG's, 1st in all 3, £50 return for each.
MTT = one $10,000 freeroll placed 82nd/100, one £10 + R/A (didnt do either!), £200 return. :)

That looks great. Really nice table there as well. What kind of chips have you got as, well, they are important to add to the professional feel along with the table. :D

And was there no trouble with the card blowing away? Never played outdoors.

Live the variance is big due to the smaller amount of games

when DTD first opened my first 3 tourneys resulted in £1700 for £225 stake

I have a bizarre record there last year

I have never cashed in a tourney of £50 buy in or lower

and cashed every one with a buy in of £75 or higher

Actually, I found playing higher stakes online a lot easier than lower stakes. Took Hans Vogl (placed 5th at Aussie Millions 2004) for $450 playing $1/$2 in a 2 hour session and when I play against retards at .10/.25 chucking it in with top/2nd pair/weak draw all the time and catching miracles it gets bloody annoying!

That's awesome mate! Playing tommorrow night with some friends for a much more sixth form student like £5 buy in :p

looks like an excellent setup! Do you do the blinds manually or have any computer software setup to tell you when they are going up and the total purse? (like at the casinos)

Nice setup you've got there Rotty. A few questions for you when you return to the forums victorious:

What software do you use to run the tourneys? I've used The Tournament Director to great effect but was wondering if there's something else that's good.

Why the unlimited rebuys for all of the first day? I'm guessing you have good players who will not see it as a reason to gamble un-necessarily? When I've run multi-day tourneys I've always had to cap the number of rebuys per player because we always had a tool with too much money and not enough of an understanding of the game and people like that will always suck out once or twice per buy-in and it used to frustrate the hell out of the good players.

And I assume you get no wind in your back garden or else you'll be reliving that infamous World Series final that took place outside and had the cards flying all over the place!

Sounds good mate, we've been talking about DTD for a while! Either that or the pub would be grand, when were you thinking of?

I'm dead out of practice, need to hit a few tables up!

I'm dead out of practice, need to hit a few tables up!

Me too. I've not played for about a year when I used to play every day just about getting to a reasonable standard at live cash games.

For some reason I can't 'do' tourneys, I can dig in for a while but the discipline of it all was something I really lacked as a youngster.

What was the result of the game Rotty?

Wish some of my mates would host games :(

re s/w we use totnament director for bigger games and poker timer for simple ones, TD today

re rebuys, it is to make sure everyone makes day 2 for the social side of things , thecost stops stupid play

re the wind , we have card proetctors and a perspex xheet for board if needed, ok so far

4hrs in pot at £1000 ,m ave 30k , me 20k but no rebuy

looking to make some moves soon
