Hi,

Been offered an mx-5. What is it worth please fellas?

1998 1.8S First of the mk2's
80k on the clock
good condition
almost FS History
cambelt changed etc.
2 new rear tyres
New hood 3 years back.
2 owners from new, current owner had for 3 years.

Is it a good car to buy? Needs to be reliable more than powerful for my needs (no my needs are not special :) )
 
mazdas have always done well in reliability stakes

My dad's had his last 7 cars since before i was born from mazda. Different models etc.. and not an mx5, but overall the brand is very reliable.
 
Thanks Guy's my research seems to concur, but wanted it from "real users" not pundits.

Let's see what he says tomorrow then.

Anything to really look out for, I'm not a car expert at all, in terms of potential faults or problems. Or even things to help reduce his price...
 
When you pull off the car will judder as you release the clutch at low ish RPM. Not the end of the world unless it's severe but it all serves as a haggling point :p

Just check the overall condition of the car really :)

You say it's a 1.8S, is that the 1.8i, 1.8iS or 1.8Sport?

Just that they all have different equipment/trim/features and therefore value.
