I remember a while ago the problems about mankind reaching Mars being debated on a radio show, and one of the most prolific ones was the logistical difficulties of having a vehicle being able to return to Earth after the initial mission, and that as things stood mankind could only realistically hope to get over there. The host raised the point of that there are surely many, many people on this globe who would gladly accept a one-way ticket if it meant fame and eternal glory; this was met by an awkward silence.
