I am all for tolerance and respect of other peoples beliefs but this just seems a little silly to me.
It should be a 2-way street. If British establishments tolerate the wearing of a headscarf in official or otherwise business then surely the converse should apply that British persons should not have to adhere to wearing one when they do not normally.
If the female police officers involved do not have an issue with it then I do not see a problem, however it should be purely optional - Not mandatory.
