Police new head scarfs

Would the police take their shoes off when entering peoples homes?

I doubt it, that is also a sign of respect.

Fishtake.

It's not as if this is likely to affect a police 'raid', but where is the harm in a bit of respect if they were perhaps entering and enquiring for some information to help them with a particular issue.

I guess it would help in a raid, just think of all those female officers with headgear on, they could easily 'pull the wool' over their eyes and make good their escape.

:p

Well christianity teaches the acceptence and tolerance of everybody, no matter what faith they follow. REAL christians would not push anything on anyone, nor would they refuse someone entry to a church.

A Sikh would be welcomed into the church whether he/she was an officer or not. Same with anyone of any religion.

Hahahaha.

Sorry, just laughing at you all clutching at straws at the idea that any Christians anywhere would take issue with a member of another religion entering a church.

Isn't it a tiny cap that covers the back of the skull? I used to work in a school that was like 80% Muslim kids\teachers, And they were worn most the time by the guys. But they are hardly the same thing as having to cover your femininity up. Are women allowed to wear the same tiny caps?

The point of a headskarf is to cover hair afaik. So yes, if their hair is short enough I assume they can wear a small cap.

Right... so just because I am female I would have to wear it /rolleyes

Any other degrading stuff I should do simply because of my gender in the police force?

Maybe I will have to wait in the female prayer area?

Where will it end is the real point!

Nice to see with the shoe being on the other foot it's so funny.

And FWIW, I know a church would have no problem with a Sikh officer entering with his turben, I was trying to highlight how ridiculous this whole thing is. But alas it seems that failed.

I'm sorry, degrading? It's a head scalf not a miniskirt.

Classic.

We post wanting the view of the female officers in the force, and the first one that does is rediculed.

Where is the giant rolleyes smilie when you need it.

OcUK at it's best.

I hope Hayley-K is an officer and not a geography teacher. :o

I'm sorry but thats your opinion on the definition of degrading.

How about in the police you had to wear a paper mask with eye holes because YOU are pale and ugly to some minorties?

Not your fault but you are born like it but what the hell its not like you have to walk around in speedos ;)

No I am a geography teacher and my sister is a PCSO in BATH!!! I know how it would feel though :p

If anyone is stationed in Bath I can prove my sister works there btw.

You hit with a nail there Hayley.

"I'm sorry but thats your opinion on the definition of degrading."

headscarf maybe degrading to you, but not to the women who wear it?

Ok yes I admit that statement was a bit wrong on my part, but I just don't see how this is "degrading" in any way.

Yeah I think that's the issue there, the definition of degrading not so much arrogance. Is the head scarf actually meant to lower the worth of women? I would have guessed no, but then I don't know anything about the origins of it etc.
