well. i have a 4870x2 card and its watercooled. so temps are not a worry. its just every so often, just on the desktop. the screen will get static lines across it and get garbled, then the pc will freeze on a solid pattered screen and ill have to turn it off. and same in games, but i wont get corruption. just randomly it will freeze or it will freeze on a pattered screen, its really annoying! what could the problem be? dare i ask >.<
Thanks

does your water blovk coler the power regulators and stuff, they get HOT

anyways, when you get the system backup again, does it say anything in error consle thing to do with ATI display driver ?

well its a full cover waterblock. its the EK blocks copper one.
and it never says anything when i turn it back on :/ sometimes i get a random display driver stopped responding thing, but tht never affects it or causes artifacts >< its so annoying!

You checked your RAM and tried running the i7 at stock? Bar that it appears to be the card itself.

i ran intel burntest for 10 runs and it was fine, and the ram is fine aswell. its running below spec. it shud be fine, plus i wouldnt of thought it would affect the display even if it was unstable? thanks

RAM can affect the display. It is worth a go, just save or note down your current overclock, reset to defaults and see if you get the same problem.

If you do then it sounds like the 4870x2 hardware, especially if it has happened with no changes to software or hardware.

i could. its not that old. but do u think i could get away with it being that its watercooled? i do have all the screws and the origional cooler for it tho.

I expect so, just put the original cooler back on, try not to damage the screws when doing so and you'll be fine. Its worth a go anyways, otherwise its around £240 for a new one, so what have you got to lose?

yeah. exactly. do u have any idea what the turn around time will be though? its a gigabyte card. and i dont have a spare card i can put in and i dont have a laptop either :S i dnt really wanna be without a pc >< grrr.

Just buy a cheap PCI-E card, you won't be able to game with it unless you spend a fair bit, but at least you can use your system while the RMA is processing. I have a x300 and a R7000 as backup cards myself. There might be something cheap on the For Sale section. Otherwise something like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-193-AS

If you have access to the free shipping offer its a cheap little purchase and a new card as well.

As for the turn around, will depend on the retailer as it is under a year old most will take them back.

Edit, my bad, you'll be best off using an ATI/AMD card for drivers.

hmm, still dont see it!! o well. do u know what ocuk's turnaround on faulty parts is like? Thanks again

Very odd, pretty sure you meet the requirements.

Pretty good I think, although I think it varies. Maybe 3-5 days? Send them a webnote, I wouldn't mention the watercooling though, just the problems. If they think its enough they will issue you with an RMA number and you can send the item in.
