Hi,

Can someone spec me the above please, AMD or Intel not fussed.
I know it's not the best of budget but I don't mind OCing it either.

TOWER only with NO OS.

I'd go with mp260767's spec, good PC for the money there.

BIGBC, you can't put an AM2+ CPU in an AM3 mobo, so either stick in the tri core in mp260767's spec or the more expensive quad mentioned above.

Could stretch another couple of quid for better psu, would I be able to add another gfx card at a later date with it ?

Also what are the CPU's like to OC ?

black edition means its an unlocked multiplier so it should be easy to overclock by changing the multiplier :)

If your going to do any serious OC'ing.

Id take BIGBC's spec, change the procesor to the AMD Phenom II X3 Tri Core 720 Black Edition which is on special and saving a good £15, get a slightly stronger PSU (650W min I'd recommended for OC'ing these chips) and get a Sunbeam aftercooler which retail at about 30£. You'll be good to clock that chip to 3.6 to 3.7 with that mobo

Erm. Isn't that a AM2+ CPU in a AM3 mobo.

Swap CPU for:

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail

and pay an extra £10 quid or so

Yep, missed that, I thought it was the 955 originally and not the 940.

Good job you've got sharp eyes. ;)

Oh woops, thought they were backwards compatible.
Cheers for that, saved me making a pricey mistake lol.

EDIT: can you put an AM3 CPU in a AM2+ mobo ? or have i got things really mixed up here.

Update (with a little less screw-up).

looking over it I put the 940 in by mistake, 955 isnt much more.
Still didnt know about the AM2+/AM3 conflict.

yes the CPUs are backwards compatible with the mobo's not vice versa, AM3 has one less pin than AM2+ so the 3 CPU will go in the 2 slot, but a 2 CPU has too many pinds for a 3 slot

Oh right, cheers for clearing that up for me.
