BMW Free Zone

Yet you still seem to think that's something to boast about ...

My wife (until she finally knackered the clutch) did >50k miles in her Derv 106 which is now at nearly 120k, all non-motorway, mostly urban. The biggest expense? A brand new clutch = £85 and is being fitted for nothing this week prior to it being sold. If you get the same reliability out of your Fiesta I'll eat my shoes, come back when you've done proper mileage and let us know.

Car is on 80k and as far as I can tell everything is original bar the belts and service parts. The car has had a 100% reliability record in my ownership, I'm happy with that thanks.

Yer both me and my sister learned in an n reg 106, (about 4-5 years ago) mum drove it every day took it from about 30k to about 90k in 3 or 4 years, only thing that needed paying for was servicing, tax, insurance and a new back box.

In the light of the recent BMW take over of the motors subforum, I would like to declare this a BMW free zone where people can discuss the many other manufacturers of motor vehicles.

I for one do not care about the 116i and the variants of the 2.0. I don't care about your new BMW.

GO AWAY

As much as we argue Janesy im with you here, ive never been a fan of any BMW and would personally never own one, the forums have definately been a light with all sorts of BMW rubbish, hopefully we will see a ive just brought a car thats not a merc/bmw and something a little different.

Out if interest why don't you like any of them, i could understand if this was a view about Skoda cars or another brand along those lines but saying that about some of the best drivers cars ever made seems to be almost an un-educated response?

Is that aimed at me Firestar?

We don't argue, we discuss :)

I actually like *coughs*, just getting a bit bored of hearing about them every 5 minutes :)

Nope just asking thats all, if you said you didn't like the performance or how they drive then i would have argued since this is clearly claptrap, but how they look is subjective.

Ive never driven one, and have no interest too, although fairplay for all those following the crowd that do. I realise they are good cars but its much more of a status thing I feel.

I just found out that like this thread, my locale is a BMW free zone, after my next-door-but-one neighbour's X5 was nicked on Monday night. :/

I couldnt give two ***** about the badge on the bonnet, i test drove every car i could think of wanting to own before i drove a 3 series, and it was absolutely lightyears ahead of anything else in the way it drove. Yes some people buy them just for the badge, and they are most definitely male chickens ;) but to right BMWs off without even driving one just because they're popular, is pretty idiotic.....it's like turning gay just because most people like women.

Does that make me a **** because after trying to find a better car I really couldn't. If you get some education and work your way up past burger flipper, you might be able to actually afford a decent car and perhaps stop being so jealous.

Why do you think BMWs are so popular? Its not because they are cheap rust boxes that only chavs buy and defend to the death is it.
