HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

Anyone else finding that after you have received a text message and replied and even deleted it, the trackball pulses for a while

It pulses white for some reason and not blue like I've read on the net :/

Yes mine does the same, also it is white regardless of whether its an email or a text.

Still loving the phone and I have found a new WiFi AP, so wifi is now working.

My only gripe so far with this phone :/

Also regarding the teflon coating, mine (graphite) feels exactly the same as a white T-mobile one I tried :)

sounds like a minor bug that would be easily patched. Speaking of which is there an easy method of updating the android software? Its one thing i haven't looked at so far so not sure how its done.

Wouldn't streaming stuff on 4od use up your monthly data allowance superfast? Or does it automatically adjust the resolution for your phone or something? Or am I just being a nub and not realising you're talking about Wi-Fi..

Does anyone know how to stop and refresh pages in the browser?

To stop push the x on the address bar. Long press on the page to get a menu with the refresh option.

Make sure you download the locale app, it can change settings based on your location I.e turn off WiFi etc.....

Software updates will be sent our via the network operator, not sure about the sim free ones.

The keyboard can get a bit sluggish when you get really fast at typing.

With the Hero I believe that the updates will have to be done manually through USB and not be OTA.

The phone is brilliant! I'm so glad that I decided to go for the Hero over the N97 because it's such a slick phone. Slowdown, or 'lag', is pretty minimal and I certainly didn't find any that I'd consider a nuisance but I guess it depends on the individual if it would annoy.

Net browsing was an absolute joy; the browser was really smooth and fast and the 'pinch zooming' along with the text resizing made the whole experience so much more fluid. Texting and emailing, although taking me a while to adjust, is seamless and tidy and with the addition of HTC's tweaked touch keypad writing text is perfect. The Sense UI is very customisable and modern looking, it only takes a minute or two to set it up exactly how you want it.

The only thing I'd say is that if you want a camera with a good quality camera then you'd be best to avoid the Hero. Fortunately for me, I don't really care about camera quality but it's fine for taking quick snaps.

I wish HTC included a more comprehensive manual because, coming from an N95, I had to find out how to do pretty much everything by my self. Some things can be pretty obscure!

Overall, very impressed indeed.

Anybody else with the Orange version noticed that some paid apps aren't appearing? It seems to be the copy protected apps, a few other people have reported it on the Android Market Group as well.

I have searched for a few things that it didn't find. What apps couldn't you find? I will try it on mine.
