Goodyear Eagle F1's... Your experiences?

IMO great all round tyre. very good in the wet and holds itd own in the dry. However a soft tyres with a equally soft sidewall. Can feel the flex in the sidewall when pushed on a spirited drive. My experience has only been with the GSD3 in 215/45/17 fitment.

I've got GSD3's on the front of mine and they seem as good as you can expect really. I need to replace the rears soon, so will try and source some stock as it probably isn't a good idea to have asymetric's on the rear & not the front? Or should I swap them over? I gather it is best to have newer tyres on the front anyway?

Excellent tyres. If you can get them, then get them

Also, conisder Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Easily comparable and a fair bit cheaper :)

As they will be for the rear its not really critical how long they will last as im sure as a free wheel they will last bloomin ages anyway!

I think my mind is getting more set.

Now, next.... etyres....anyone used these guys before? They come to your home or work address and fit them there and then, good idea or are they Kwik-Fit Mk.2?

eTyres use local mobile fitters, so depends on where you are as to who you will get. I've used them twice and got a different mobile guy each time. That said, both guys were good with no problems.

fantastic tyres, transformed the car from a tail happy, twitchy, snappy, almost scary car into.... Wow. (Pirelli to Goodyears)

Grips on everything, even big standing water. Wear rate is fine, but then its a small hatch. Not sure about heavier or faster cars.

I think your ST might be faster than my car :)

Good stuff!

i think a set of GSD3's for the rear then the asymetrics for the front then just before we pop over to germany :)

Thanks for the help and info guys!

What tyres do you have at the front? I'm not sure I'd have Eagles on one axle with inferior tyres on the other, it'll make for some pretty unbalanced grip situations, particularly when it's ****ing with rain

Currently I have budgets on the front. :(

I cant afford the 4 at once and I know if doing only 2 to get the rear 2 done, just so happens that its the rear 2 that need replacement. I will just take it easy until the next payday then get the fronts sorted with good rubber! Certainly wouldnt attempt the ring with those on the front :)

I used to run them when I had my Impreza.

As others have said, fabulous grip from them in the wet (and never had them aquaplaning) and decent in the dry - far better than the OEM Bridgies that came on it. Didn't seem to wear a lot worse than the OEM tyres either.

Had a set on my Prelude. They did ~15k on the front, then 15k on the rear before they reached the limit.

The Toyo Proxes T1-R I put on the front when I moved the F1's to the rear lasted 15k on the front before being in the same condition as the F1's that had done a combined 30k.

So are GSD3's still available any where?

When I put my last pair on the MX5 I was told I had got the last GSD3 in my size in the country (not sure how true this was). Therefore I am a bit concerned that when I need my next pair I will have to go to a mix of Asymetrical and pointy GSD3 ones (don't know the techinical term!),
