Do you shake hands at work?

No handshakes apart from meeting new people and people leaving the place etc..

I've tried getting everyone to line up so I can run down the middle high 5'ing them as I go, but they won't seem to go for it! :(

nothing wrong with having a good grip most IT peeps i have shaken hands with are like womens

IT men aren't real men anyway :p

I think shaking everyone's hand daily is strange, but a friend or colleague you havent' seen for a while, or being introduced is always important to shake hands.

It's a good bit of psychology, engaging someone in a handshake - I shan't go into the details, but it's quite a useful tool IMO if used sensibly.

Handshakes are only for:

a) First meeting
b) Last meeting, i.e. you failed, you're off
c) I'm a bit drunk and I'm shaking everyone's hand to congratulate you on getting drunk with me too

Normally when we arrive on the door for a shift we do if its someone weve never worked with before and almost always at the end of a shift.
Then again we don't work with the same people day in day out

I usually communicate with as few people as possible at work, i can't be doing with their inane "small talk" and most of the time they want something from me anyway.

We shake hands every morning and shake hands with everyone when we leave. It felt weird at first but it makes everyone at work feel like friends and family. Let's be honest these are the people we spend more time with than our real family!

I don't shake hands with my family every time I leave in the morning or get home from work. This is just wierd.

The only times I shake hands at work is when I meet someone for the first time or I see someone important I haven't seen for a while, like a few months. But that's just manners.

The only other time I shake hands at the office is when I see work friends who I haven't seen for a while or won't see for a while. Either side of xmas and holidays are usual times for these. But that's just the same as with any friends, handshake with the guys and a kiss for the ladies.

My co-workers get hellos and goodbyes everyday but handshakes is a bit unnecessary.
