I just got my electricity bill and some how its jumped from 9.4kwh to 22.4kwh.

How would it more than double for the quater when we havent changed our useage in any way?

What could use that much up so quickly?

Thanks

I must be missing something here.
Isn't a kWh a kiloWatthour, more commonly referred to as a unit. Charged for at around £0.16 per unit or so?

How can you be using so few units?

gremlins  i had this problem a few weeks back, a good chainsaw sourts this out.;):D:D:D

A KWH is a unit which represents the consumption of a 1KW drain for a period of 1 hour. 22.4KWH is nothing...

Is that your average daily/weekly usage or something? You would expect to use around 500kWh a quarter maybe more or less but not 20kWh, unless you've been on holiday for 3 months with almost everything switched off.

Yeah, sounds like a correction and you probably used somewhere in between for the whole time. They will now bill at the higher amount to offset the underpayment from before :)

correct. I was happy as I'd used 1000 kwh less this year only to see that the price increases still meant i owed them more :(

further rant in belgium its taxed at the luxury rate of 21% VAT how they think its a luxury I don't know. They say its because you can now power your home using sun and wind :(

21% VAT

We only pay 5% reduced rate VAT on domestic electricity :)

Ok thanks guys. So hopefully the next one should drop back into place, as I will be making sure they get a reading or i will over pay next time.

Balls can you power a home from sun and wind. Maybe if you had a few hundred acres to install turbines and panels, and enough cash to buy it all. But then it would still be cheaper to just buy electricity.
