Worst Review Ever!

Ha! Just the way he says "Darkfall" at the start makes you want to close the window.

"I've never played WoW, but this probably definately beats that by miles"

Quick, get this kid into journalism :p
 
Think that this is the worst review ever. The original reviewer at IGN USA completely ballsed up and incurred the wrath of a lot of Football Manager fans.

Though I do agree, that Darkfall video is poor :p.
 
This is pretty funny but there are much better (worse?) video reviews on youtube posted by total fanboys. I can't remember any in particular right now but I've seen some over the years that have been utterly spammed with insults and trollin. I saw one once for some game where a kid was basically just going "omg this game rocks look at this" and just had a vid of him running about on some server.

Well, I just read it and it sounds fair enough to me. What was so bad about it?

About the Darkfall review: Lol, yeah amusing for sure, probably not THE Worst ever, but I love it at 2:00 - check it out!

He completely missed the point of the game. He failed to do any research in to previous versiona and in doing so, was not able to fully review the game. When you consider that this was for IGN, a company that puts of loads of reviews every week you start to see why this is a horrific review and why it was eventually pulled in order for it to be re-reviewed.
 
but he does have a fair few good points, the sound and graphics on FM are abysmal. It is ridiculously complicated and their are too many options and stats. EA FIFA Manager would be much more fun if the menu system wasn't so laggy like always......

He did say football fans would enjoy it and non football fans would get bored of the crappy graphics, lack of sound and menu after menu after menu. Surprisingly not everyone likes football.

I don't see how that's particularly relevant, he wasn't reviewing the entire series after all.

It's not an horrific review, he just reviewed the game as he saw it, he didn't like it, there was nothing technically outstanding about it and it's not a particularly heart pounding experience.

Sure some people like to micromanage teams in a statistically rich interface but not everyone likes managing how much recuperation time David Beckham gets for his stubbed toe.

The problem here is that whoever decided this guy should write the review was obviously wrong. But since the reviewer wasn't particulary enthralled by scrolling numbers he did a pretty unbiased review, he saw nothing technically fantastic about the game.

And remember, there is no such thing as an unbiased review.

The problem still remains though that the review was compromised by the reviewers false pre-conceptions of the game. Rather than doing what a review should (focusing on what the game promises, what it does well) he has critisised it for lacking items that he feels should be in there and for a company such as IGN, reviews such as these serve only to misinform.

I'm not saying that the review was biased, only that the reviewer didn't do his homework and as such earns himself a shot at the title of "Worst Reviewer Ever" :p.

At the end of the day I suppose its all a matter of opinion and for someone like yourself who doesn't seem to be mental about the series of games or maybe even football in general the review may seem pretty straightforward. For me the original review in this thread (Darkfall) doesn't really appeal to me as i've not been caught up in the mmo wars. Its a particularly bad review but only because its an amateur doing what an amateur generally does best, patchy journalism.
 
Bah, this is one of those agree to disagree moments isn't it :P

Personally I just think he rocked the boat too much.

On another note I've gone off reviews in general because they're always biased in some way there's some great games that get overlooked because they're not the norm or the reviewers didn't get it. It's one of the reasons I like Zero Punctuation so much, he just rips the games apart and tells you everything bad about it regardless of how good the game actually is.
