HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

Just rang retentions asking how much it would be to disconnect, they offered me the phone still for £97.50 but with 200 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet for £22.50pm, that seems alright but I'm gonna give them another ring tomorrow now when I get paid to see if I can get them down on the handset price.

I'm gonna take them up on this I think, it's still gonna work out cheaper than cancelling and taking a new contract out with T-Mobile, will try one more time to get the handset price discounted but if not I'll pay up.

Anyone know if any shops have these yet? Been into t-mobile, phones4u adn carphone just now and none of them have the hero :(

Want to have a play before i decide to buy this over the magic!

Got it now and love it, but how do I copy my contacts from the SIM to the phone? When I select to Import SIM Contacts from the People menu it shows a status bar saying 0/98 which then just disappears and nothing is copied?

Just ordered a Hero, was deciding whether to get a SIM from Orange to use in my Nokia just incase there was any more decent android phones around the corner but I can't see anything on the horizon really.

Try Orange, I went to town on Monday, no stores had them out on display but they had them in the back, managed to have a play on one whilst the assistant was sat with me =/ not ideal but at least you can have a go!

Been downloading loads of stuff from the market. Beebplayer is pretty good. Loads of free games as well ;)

Have finally got used to the keyboard with spell checker just tapping away and let it sort out the mess

Has anyone else heard any news with regards to some applications not appearing in the market with the HTC Hero? For example you aren't able to find Bloo the facebook client. It's really starting to annoy me....

It's the paid applications with copy protection that do not seem to be appearing on the Hero's Marketplace for some reason.

There is a topic about it in the Market's help group but no response from a Google employee yet.

UPDATE: The email I just recieved from HTC blames Orange, possibly the modifications they have done to the firmware blocking it.

What are peoples opinion on this phone then? I should hopefully get mine tomorrow, but don't know whether or not to keep it, or sell it and go for the iphone 3gs.

I really like it, although I have never used the iphone. There are times when you click on something and you get "loading" but considering its just come out people shouldn't complain (the amount of updates the iphone has had:eek:)

The misses has the HTC touch HD and this thing blows it away, the touch screen is smooth and responsive and even though I struggle with the keyboard its spell checker sorts me out.

Am looking forward to more stuff coming out and its a phone that will get better with time

Posting from mine now and I am really loving it. Just rung t mobile with my pac code too so will have everything sorted number wise in next few days.

Best thing to do is try a 3g out in a shop. The hero is good but the iPhone has more choice of apps at the mo and quality apps in every area.

There us a lot of rubbish apps bit there's a lot of excellent apps too.

Android's Market isn't as mature.

The hero's CPU should have also been more powerful.

If the software you want on the hero is exactly what you want then go for that; for me at the moment the apps I use aren't as good on android.

Looks like I can actually get a better deal directly from orange.

24 months, £25 p/m 600 mins, unlim texts + 500mb data

Phone costs £97 but I'd rather pay that upfront rather than £50 and an extra £120 over the 24 months on the £30 p/m contract.

My Hero arrived from T-Mobile yesterday.... Its actually black, and not browny black like the offline one. It also doesnt look graphite to me, it looks like teflon. Or am I crazy?

T-Mobile do say on their site 'exclusive special black eddition'.

I have to say it feels VERY well built and actually heavy (in a good way). But I don't like the chin, so its samsung galaxy for me.
