So i come home from work and find no where to park so i stick it as close as i can which is on a hill. Slam on the handbrake lock the car and go inside. 20 mins later im greeted by next door shouting for me, my car has decided to plow down the hill into the wall luckly only half way down as you can see what i mean lucky if thats the right word.

Imaging if it had gone through the fence and into their conservatory.

Are you sure you put the handbrake on?

Wouldn't expect anything more from an audi TT driver. Afterall the owners are gay and gay people are like women and women do silly things like this :D

Unlucky :(

I thought you were supposed to leave the car in-gear when parked on a slope?

Lesson learnt, yes?

This is why we all leave it in gear too.

Oh YES ! im just praying it not going to go more than £600 range, the garage owner only took quick look and said he only charage for the wing, the price he buys it at as i know him pretty well.

Before you parked up were you driving ...lets say enthusiastically. The discs heat up expand and when they cool the handbrake is no longer tight on.

I had just done a 20+ mile trip national speed limit all the way ;) maybe .......

Unlucky mate. I was always taught if parking downhill position the tyres such that the outside of the wheel goes against the curb so it resists forward movement. Same way, if your rear is parked with the hill behind you position the front wheels such that the inside of the wheel goes against the curb. :)

I know nothing about bodyshops, does £600 quid sound about right, he said i be looking at around 100 - 140 for new wing, then all the work, i know the plastic under the arch is all gone, scratches as u see it on bumper and there is a crack? The alien is runined aswell hopelly that can be hammered back in.

my focus ST did this once which I put down to bad luck (on my not very steep drive) then it did it again which I put down to a problem so I leave it in gear all the time.. thankfully nowhere near as much damage as it only rolled about 2ft straight into the house.

I allways leave my cars in gear.. Think it comes from parking up at trackdays..I sometimes have to pop back out just to check ive but the handbrake on.

there have been all sorts of reports of handbrake failures on the vectra

such that i now always leave my car in gear in case something like this happens. Not much help i know

but at least its not done too much damage :(
