never a dull moment in McDonald's...

got a call to check out a McD till system in this morning.

some chap had gone through the drivethrough at 3am on his push bike and was refused his double cheeseburger because he wasn't in a car.

this appeared to wind the bloke up a bit who prised open the drive thru windows, grabbed hold of the till and threw it into the kitchen and smashed everything he could reach through the window.

apparently he had some kind of pitbull type dog and threatened to drop it through the open window to chase the staff lol. that would make some great cctv footage i guess :D

the guy sure likes his burgers eh??

police still hadn't turned up 8 hours later, despite them phoning the store to order some food.

they got some good cctv footage so hopefully they catch him, the staff there don't get paid enough to go through stuff like that.

Why didn't the Muppets just give him what he'd ordered, after all isn't that what they're being paid to do?

I've been through a drive through on a bike, there were 3 of us and we all got served no problem. We weren't being idiots, just couldn't lock our bikes up anywhere.

"I would like to clarify that McDonald's supports the health and environmental benefits of cycling, however it is our practice not to serve cyclists using the drive-thru lane or drive-thru service windows. The drive-thru facility is designed for motor vehicles and, on balance, we are concerned that use by cyclists could compromise their safety. In reaching this view we have consulted with our own Hygiene and Safety Department, the Highway Code, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). I can appreciate that this is not your desired response and I am sorry if this causes you further disappointment. I offer my apologies again for your inconvenience and disappointment on this occasion. I trust you can fully appreciate the rationale behind this decision and hope that you will not be deterred from future visits to McDonald's."

When I was in Australia McDonalds had signs up saying it was actually against the law for them to serve anyone not in a motor vehicle or on a motorcycle from the drive through.

That is utterly ridiculous.

Why on earth not?

How does being in a vehicle benefit the consumer?

See my post. It's about if you fall off your bike whilst leaning to get the food or something, and try and sue them for the window being too high/low etc. Stupid, but H&S is!
