Couldn't find any posts on this yet, so, has anyone tried the Ashes Cricket 2009 demo yet ? I've had a quick go and must say, this looks to be pretty good, and plays quite good even though the demo is only 3 overs batting/bowling.

Have had a few games on the demo now, quite like it, although took a while to figure out the control system as that help page just goes by too quickly.
Think I'll place an order for this.

Busa, Ant, what did you think of it ?

It does have a nice feel to it. Still some of the old bugs of past Lara games, such as a fielder stepping over the ball 4 times before picking it up as I ran for 4. The major bugs of Lara 2007 on the PS2 aren't present thank goodness. That throw back to the wicket keeper, who drops it then picks it up and whips the bails off every single ball was horrific.

Controls on this are nice, once you get used to them, though I'm not sure about having to press a button to catch the ball - I always forget :D

Think I will be getting this, though probably will get it on 360 when I have one instead so I can play with my mate on live.

Just had a game of this, pretty good actually I was surprised. I chose Australia and put it on easy.. controls are good though it really is 'easy'.

I bowled first and got a wicket in the first over and after 3 overs England finished 24/1, so I batted and managed 4 6's and a 4 to beat them 28/0. lol

Considering pre-ordering this.

Hitting enter to catch also caught me out a few times ( okay, pun intended ! )

And my first game I was all out for 4 as I didn't read the batting controls when it loaded thinking there would be another way to show it. I did manage to make it to the second over before they scored the winning runs.

As for when it's out, seems to be 7 august

Its ok...Freddie Flintoff don't look like Freddie Flintoff though...none of the players look like the real life players.

Jimmy Anderson is easily recognisable and KP.

The last good one was BLC on the PSone. Had a few bugs but is still the best console version I have played of them all.

It is actually quite a good game and I am tempted to purchase it when it comes out. The bowling seems fairly natural and the batting is pretty easy once you learn which shots for which length of ball. The only problem fo rme is the fielding options are a bit naff in the demo.

Agreed, although I'm beyond tempted and have placed my order for it

Not sure what you mean by the fielding options, I thought it's quite good how quicky you can cycle through them and also the custom fields are good. Only thing that tricked me was it defaulting back to a standard one instead of custom when you take a wicket

I noticed you have to hit the ball a lot earlier than in Lara etc. Means you have to keep an eye on the ball and bowler more to see what is going on. No more last minute sixes on the slower ball then! This is a good thing, especially on multiplayer I think because it used to be easier to bowl other players out by bowling 4-5 slower balls and banging in a quick one once an over.

OMG this game is a total let down :( No where near as playable as BLC 2007.

Graphics are poor. Gameplay is good but the AI is retarded so it makes the good control system pointless. Loads of bugs. its almost like the people who made this didnt watch a current cricket game or read the rules of the game.

Yeah, I'd have to agree.

Coming to think of it, most of the other Cricket games have relatively shocking graphic engines anyway, I'm guessing because Cricket isn't as popular as most other sports, the games turn out to be quite average.

BLC is quite playable, but you can easily bowl people out and it can get annoying when you're playing 2 player, since it's easy to bowl yorkers/full all the time....

In fact, this kinda reminds me of the F1 genre, very few games are created and little to none turn out "good".
