Fat Princess out July 30

hmm never heard of this, but now tempted by a positive thread and watching some videos

my concerns are (and I will look elsewhere for clarification too):

Lag - looks like a patch is fixing that
Bots - online games full of bots???
Small Community - I dont want to buy this and say have maybe 1month or so of decent gaming, before everyone moves on because this has no real life in it.
Gimmick - I like to play games for a couple of hours to get engrossed, im worried this could be gimmicky and last maybe 1 round or 2 before its too samey without no depth.

I know its cheap and I shouldnt expect a lot, but it is a credit crunch and I budget myself around the family to maybe just get a game a month for example. So to get a poor game would be a waste.
 
Also if I buy this on the US or UK store, what is the difference?

UK version I can only play with Europeans and US only with North Americans? Or is it global?

Good games, although not much fun when mic dies :(. We were doing great in that second game till my mic died. Will fully charge it for tomorrow.



Indeed, we rocked :) Edit: Ahhhhhh ANOTHER FIFA BOY!!! We should have a OcUK FIFA boys against the rest session. Although I think I may be in the non FIFA playing minority :)

Edit: bit confused about the lag ( a couple of people got it I think). I was hosting and I see the red snail myself, albeit briefly!!

Youd be easily dispatched then :p. Us FIFA boys are telepathic with our organisation :p

LAG is ruining this game for me though - dont understand why its so bad - got to point where I couldnt walk or charge my weapon...

How easy is it to pickup a game on this then? Are we looking at US peak times only to get decent servers?

Thats whats putting me off getting this.... i can just see if being about 10-12 players left playing it once the big boys get released in the coming months.
 
It's not ran by servers players have to host so most of the time it is laggy with 32 people.

I am sure there will be a online community still since the game is quite addictive.
 
Whilst the game is great I would advise anyone who has not bought this yet, to wait at least a week. I have lost number of the count of XBLA/PSN games that have issues at launch and seldom get fixed in a timely fashion. By the time they do most people have lost interest.

I share some of your fears.

Lag is very annoying which THEY SAY they are gonna fix. An example of this is I have 1.4mb upload, It says I can host a 22 player game (god knows what you need to host a 32 player game). I hosted a 12 player game and some people got lag ()even my own screen showed the lag icon!!)
Bots I think the online games are full of these due to the matchmaking issues. Apparently the algorithms they use favour populating large servers first so people starting samller servers have to play with bots till the larger servers fill up. Again they know of this and are FIXING it.
Small Community I think it will be unless they fix the issues soon.
Gimmick I thought at first it is just Capture the Flag with a "Heavy/Fat" flag to slow you down. It feels very unreal tournament to me with all the chaos going on and the game modes are similar to UT2004 imo. But on the whole I don't think it is a gimmick, although the cartoony graphics may suggest that.

Purchased this but so far it feels like a waste of money :(

Hopefully when some of the issues are addressed and I don't have better online games to play I will get into it and enjoy it but for now I'm not touching it.
 
Just had a game and there was a wierd bug, it was capture the princess, the lava lvl, well our team got thier princess and took it near our castle, they must have died but the prices vanished from the map, looking at the actual map ( select) it showed her near our castle but she wasnt, must have glicthed into a wall/building.

The demon inside me made me get this yesterday and although match-making is a pain, probably takes me 3 or 4 times to get a game, once in the game has zero lag which im happy about.

As for the game, its a great laugh but also a serious battle to win. At times in choke points you can have 10v10 + battles kicking off, warriors slashing away... healers keeping you alive, the archers pinging arrows into the fray... then the mage setting things alight - even the woodsman get involved with their bomb upgrades.

Personally after a long time running as an Archer, I fell in love with the upgraded Warrior! To see 3/4 or 5 of you lined up with that big ass blade and charging their line is a site to behold :D

It is manic, you have to get stuck in and if you die you want to get straight back in there to try and make a difference and get that breakthrough so you can push them back bit by bit.

Bloody, brutal and cute and not usually linked but its one of those games that if you get in a good server or have a good group of friends to play with, you could easily lose hours without thinking or worrying.

All in, I am very pleased with the purchase... still a bit unsure as to whether the game community can hold up once the big boys are released though.
 
Multiplayer on this needs to be sorted. Would love it if they had their own servers that hosted the games instead of the user. Often find that even if i *eventually* manage to join a playerhosted game i get immediately kicked. 1 out of 15 attempts to get in an online game work. Not good enough imo.

The lag is just crazy - unless teleporting and warping players are a new skill u get :p

Considering that this is really first and foremost an online MP game dont see why they couldnt have servers set up to host it instead of relying on the user's own connection.... Quite dissapointed and let down by that..

Skeptical that the patch will sort the issues tbh. :/
 
I might hold off buying this now if there aren't any dedicated servers. I'm not going to waste time playing on a user hosted server and then be kicked or it be too laggy. What a let down.
 
I think I'm going to give it a go, looks like good fun. Tried buying it last night but due to the new-ish payment protection things to do with psn it locked my account. Have to try my address in caps tonight and with a bit of luck I'll be able to buy it and get it downloaded for a sesh tomorrow night.
