I've been chosen to sit on a large pole!

Take a few stacks of Hovis, and make a pyramid out of them! You might need to make sure they are not quite in date so they are hard and not soft.

As for what one should do when standing on a giant pillar? A giant game of charades seems appropriate - get a bit of audience interaction and you're onto a winner.
 
Its a saturday 9-10pm slot so I'll probably be abused by drunks \o/

Could always get a borat mankini, paint myself green and say I'm protesting against tree frogs losing their habitat and jump around like a frog. Would probably end up with me being put in a cell though as my tackle fell out of the mankini or something though :( I'd need strong tape.

Take a Laser Pen and try and get everyone to chase it around, then try and make them run into a wall. Everyone wins!
