I'm trying to implement the network shown in this thread (though things have moved on since then), and want to use the DG834G as a simple modem that feeds my Linksys WRT54GL (with DD-WRT installed).

Everything works great, however the Netgear only syncs at 18Mb/800k whereas my O2 box syncs at 22Mb/1.3Mb.

Does anyone know anything I can try to attain a higher sync speed? Or is the Netgear just too old now? It's a v2 btw :)

I'm using the following settings:

* Encapsulation: RFC1483 Bridged
* Multiplexing: LLC
* QOS Type: UBR
* Autodetect: Disable
* VPI: 0
* VCI: 101
* DSL Modulation: ADSL2+
* MTU: Manual
* MTU Size: 1500

(Shamelessly stolen from someone else)

Alternatively, does anyone know how I can get the O2 router to just work as a modem?

Thanks in advance

Yes you can use the O2 box as a modem but you might as well look for a Sky DG834GT. The DG834G v2 uses a chipset that doesn't work so well with Be/O2 so synchs won't be so good.

Here's another method to get your O2 box into bridge mode if you don't get on with the first one. Also allows you to patch a cable back into a spare port on the O2 box for webadmin access, which that Bridge.ini isn't configured for.

Cheers for all your help guys - worked like a charm :D

One thing to note for anyone else trying it is that you should hard-reset the router back to its original config. I'd been using it with a static IP and so the instructions given didn't initially work.

Thanks again :)
