What maintenance stuff do you leave in your car?

Hi all,

I always like being prepared in case I break down, I don't go over the top and fill the car with spare parts or anything like that - just the basics.

I thought i'd ask what car maintenance you leave in your car, hopefully I might pick up a few tips or find out about a handy tool.

Obviously the spare wheel and tool kit + jack.
12v Tyre Pump for inflating in emergency.
Allen-key in case I need to get access to some bits of the engine.
bottle of water (not to drink) and bottle oil.
Various Ice-Scrappers and anti-freeze.

I'm not a member of any recovery company and drive a VW mk4 Golf (1998) (AA RAC).

Just the standard toolkit, a 12v air compressor and a wheel brace. And the information I need to call Greenflag. If I drove a Rover with a turbo charger I'd also carry plenty of duct-tape :D

Christ Janesy, you could run your own breakdown service with that lot :p

BMW factory fitted toolkit, a foot pump and 1 litre of Castrol Edge 0w30.

And some Megs quick detailer and a microfibre cloth :p

Spare wheel + jack
Toolkit
Oil
Water
Warning triangle
First aid kit
Waterproof jacket + umbrella
Fire extinguisher
Jump leads
Torch
RAC membership

In the Cosworth:

Spare wheel, brace and jack.

In the Westfield:

Tyre Weld
Self amalgamating tape (for hose repair)
Electrical cabling
Electrical connectors
Electrical tape
Zip ties
Duct tape
Spanners
Allen keys
Screw drivers
Hammer
Spare bulbs
Jump leads
2.4l foam fire extinguisher
2ltr of water
1 ltr of oil

RAC membership covers both cars.

Fortunately never needed any of the above in either car yet though. I'm in the Westfield today so that's just jinxed the drive home!

1 wheel brace
no spare
no jack
tyre repair kit
few canisters of CO2
engine oil

yes i am woefully unprepared (good thing i drive a golf)

I think people should say what car they drive too. People who drive Geman cars(WINK) probally dont need too much stuff rather than people with TVR's and 106's!

Rope
Red Triangle
Water
Standard small toolbox with stuffs
Space saver & Jack
Blanket
Torch

I don't understand why you want to carry any great quantity of oil around with you. If you suddenly lost so much oil you had to fill it up then I wouldn't really want to drive the car anywhere anyway.
