Ive been trying to setup my PS3 to stream media files this morning, Ive managed to get it working on my xbox, it will stream MKV files just fine, but on the PS3, i can only stream regular xvid's, when i try to stream MKV's, it says that the files are corrupt.

If it works on the 360, it should work on the PS3, but it dosent.

Any ideas?

Might be a codec issue, unless you have transcoding switched off in TVersity?
Just use mvktovob to unpack the mkv file, then it'll work natively on the PS3 anyway.

Didnt think the PS3 played MKVs via streaming, ive been using Twonky Media server along with MKVtoVOB.

Twonky Media is an excellent bit of software imo.

MKV's need to be converted by MKV2VOB or other various programs to be played on the PS3, also TVersity works perfectly well for me, I find 720p files I never need to transcode only split the audio which takes about 2 minutes with MKV2VOB.

Dude, try PS3 Media Server and save yourself a hell of a lot of trouble. :)

Will do, how does it do it then, just transcode the file while streaming over to the ps3? Because I tried this on TVersity and the quality was bad and I couldn't fast forward/rewind or anything so gave up on that idea!

No loss of PQ and you can fast foward, rewind all you want. I guess this also depends how fast your pc is though.

Don't ask me how it does it but yeah it does it all on the fly. No loss of quality and you can fast forward / rewind. My media box is only a P4 3.2 and that copes absolutely fine. You'll probably need to have your PS3 patched in though, mine stutters when it's on wireless.
