A straw
You need to take the trap apart (unscrew it) and clean out whatever is blocking the flow. There's a 99.9% chance that it's blocked with hair, the hair will also hold on to other bits of filth adding to the problem.
... and he still has to unblock the bath.![]()
But at least he gets the water out![]()
I had to do this with my bath. you need a tube, then fill it with water to the top with your thumb over each end. Plunge one end to the bottom of the drainage pipe and the other end into a bucket. Remove thumb and bobs your teapot.
The likelihood of you possessing a tube of any description are quite slim though i guess?![]()
Yep, use caustic soda crystals. It's the best unblocker I've used and won't rot the pipes. You can buy it in any hardware shop by the half kilo and just keep it next to the bath. As soon as it starts to drain slowly stick some down and it'll clear it through in minutes.Incidentally, most unblocking products are essentially heavily diluted caustic soda. You can buy undiluted caustic soda at a fraction of the price, but it's nasty stuff. Not to be confused with soda crystals/washing soda. Caustic soda is one of the few things I'd actually follow the safety instructions on, using gloves and stuff. It isn't going too far to use protective clothing, goggles and a full-face mask. For example, if you add water to caustic soda (rather than adding caustic soda to water), it can erupt highly corrosive chemicals into your face. The reaction between caustic soda and water is violently exothermic. Sure as hell unblocks things, though. I am surprised it can be bought so easily - you can find it in places like Wilko's. It isn't even officially an age-restricted product.
