Alien prequel

Sounds good, it sounds remarkably like the story to the beginning of Alien though, ship goes to investigate distress call from crashed ship to find out its not a call for help but warning. Hopefully though it will be well written and directed unlike 3 and 4.

One request, no Shia LaBeouf please!

I found out about this the other day, looking forward to it, although the rumor is that Russell Crow will take the lead :(

Thats not a bad thing I quiet like Russell Crow.

Strength & Honour Alien style ;)

The article doesn't say what the prequel will be about?

It does halfway down the article

The new film will be set before the events of Scott's 1979 film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship respond to a distress signal from the empty ship, only to discover too late that the signal was meant to warn them.

Edit: Or is that just describing the original, now im confused, I read that as a description of the new film.

Eh?

Surely they wouldn't do something so utterly pointless?

Im not sure, I think ive misread that bit as its exactly what Alien is about, as the new film may hopefully have something about what happened to the derelict alien spaceship in the first place, or they may go on a tangent and have a small ship meeting Aliens 50 years before Ripley and co did, but none of them survived to tell the tale.

Really looking forward to but as mentioned else were it went down hill after Aliens but was still enjoyable at least!

My hope is that they don't ruin it by turning it into a generic horror with aliens and keep it as a psycological horror with the *occasional* nasty alien murder, and spend most of the time going into more depth and detail about the history of the alien ship etc.

It has the potential to be brilliant, unfortunatly at the same time it has the potential to be a complete heap of ****.

I can't see this working. Alien was perfect with the suspense as was Aliens with the action and big guns.

This will only be a cash cow and if anything, spoil the original.

I really hope I'm wrong though!

All i want is a film thats an 18 rated not a 12 or 15 thing. Bring on the gore, dismemberments, burst chests, screams, carnage etc.

The only thing this can be about, is how the company knew about the ship on LV426 in the first place.
And why they sent a commercial towing ship in to investigate rather than a dedicated scientific mission, and why it all had to be devious and off the record.

Not sure about that mate, the Company didnt seen in the Nostromo, they picked up a distress beacon whilst travelling back to Earth, it was a chance encounter with the alien ship.

It wasn't a distress beacon, it was a warning for other vessels to stay away.

Yes but Ash had orders to bring it back to the company even at the expense of the crew, so we can assume they knew about it and they were meant to find the ship.
