Cars clamped... WTF?

sounds like he owns it by the fact that he has the ability/right to lock it up

You would have thought eh? It is communally owned, but it isn't public. When the street was resurfaced we asked to get the speed hump at the gates removed but was told DIY its not public highway.

But I can get clamped on it.

View from my rear stair door.. sorry for phone photos and shakyness.

The gate as it was open when they walked through

I would have thought you can't do this to a public highway, obstruct it that is.

My various tools for commiting obstruction, bar the chain out of shot.

That is described on the CLE 2/6 as *MY STREET NAME* THROUGH ALLY BLKS 7/9.

I thought an alley was a narrow pedestrian lane?

I would be absolutely seething with rage at that.

Under the purposes of the Road Traffic Act, a Public Road is deemed to be a road to which the public have access.

The gate locks!!!

I am.

Still shaking. I'm glad I didn't catch them because I am tetchy enough with morons round here and my cars.

I feel very bad cause I ****** screamed at the 15 week old kitten and she won't come home. After passing through the back coming home from work to actually check on the cars and finding that, I also came into the house to find the cat had **** on my new jacket laid out on the couch. So I chucked her out the window.

I feel bad now. And raging at the same time.

I'm going for a walk.

What is the cost of one of those clamps in comparison to the fine they are trying to impose?
if it's comparable I'd cut them off and see what happens.

The question is, whether the land is truly private, or privately owned but where the public have access (such as an un-adopted road or a supermarket carpark). If the latter is the case then you are committing an offence having a sorned car parked there.

It has a locking gate. It is blatantly not a public carpark.

I have absolutely no idea.

What is an un-adopted road? It certainly isn't a supermarket carpark thats for sure.

I don't have the deeds and I am not a lawyer. I could chap to ask to see my next door neighbours but she is very elderly and its a bit late.

I'd be tempted to lock the gates, meet a representative of the company out front (after phoning to complain of clamping on private land) and tell them they are welcome to their clamps back if they pay the appropriate entrance fee :D

why dont you call the people who have clamped your cars. wait for them to turn up by your car and then lock the gate behind them. then charge them £500 for the privelidge of letting hem out.

Biohazard, cut the damn clamps off!

All they've done is come in off the road and clamped you hoping you'll panic and pay. They have no right to do it.

So cut them off, and dump them outside the locked gate.

If they are SORN'd, how are you being inconvenienced? Just wait for them to remove them?

Have to admit though the temptation to cut them off with an angle grinder would be too much for me to resist :D Hell I would not hesitate to do that even if I were "in the wrong".

Because there have now been at least 150 residential windows overlooking every single window of the cars being covered in MASSIVE YELLOW POSTERS publically denouncing me as a ******* criminal.

That is why.

I might want to drive the bloody things back and forward all night until the tanks run empty for all it has to do with anyone.

ps nath that isn't at you.. its me. I need to leave pc for a while. sorry.
