Budget
There's just no way that was a typo

AMD is the better route, but it's late and I'm going to sleep. Find one of the other spec me threads on this page with the same budget and the same requirements, then research the hardware, judge whether it suits you and ask specific questions if you wish for clarification or opinion

If you will research nothing yourself, the build is unlikely to go well however carefully we select components for you

Bit overkill for WOW but will last some considerable time. Case is down to personal preference really but that's what I would go for to save space. :D

thanks guy i am doing my own research but it is only used for the internet and online gaming and cod4 ect but need to perform well in game i play at a very high level on cod4

thanks for the lists already there great is there much diffrence in the i7 and the amd chips ?

and the ati gfx card and the nividea cards ?

thanks again guys

for gaming the i7 will only give a marginal performance boost so if your just gaming AMD will be fine for you, and also the gfx card is down to personal choice, i prefer ATI cards since they have better drivers imo and the 4890's are awesome cards for the price you pay for them.

Personally I think you won't notice the difference between the Phenom II (AMD) and the i7 (Intel) chips. On the graphics card front, I'd stick with Nvidia - and probably go for the GTX260 as it's the best bang for buck

I thought the 4890 was best bang for buck right now?

Agreed with dangerstat that the i7 and AMD 955 gaming performance is very similar. In most games you will be graphics bound - so the CPU isn't the bottleneck, the GPU is.

That said, I have to disagree with the GTX 260 being the best bang-for-the-buck GPU. This card must surely take that crown. Also, make note that all the best AM3 motherboards (the 785/790 chipsets) only support crossfire not sli - so an ATI card is preferable with these setups if you plan to add a second card later (as prices come down and crossfire scaling is very good).

ok so say i wanted a system build useing this card Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail

and this AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz

a screen

can any one help me out with that build ?

thanks again

Damn it's a difficult choice, for me the GTX260 gets it, but it's marginal at best.

Drop the velociraptor to this and buy an SSD later in the year. I seriously suggest getting the VGA cooler, its very cheap and will make the GPU much cooler and quieter.

Also, the monitor is very important (it is the main output of your system after all), so I suggest not going for the cheapest 24in you can lay your hands on. If I were you, get this far superior monitor and get the money back by replacing the CPU cooler with this.

ok wicked i will never need 1 tb though 320 will be plenty enouth only got 160 on this one and its done me ok

will 1tb give me any benifit in performance ?
